I use Roux for 3x3, but I have recently procured a 4x4 and just today a 5x5 (still haven't scrambled/solved it). I've been solving it using reduction (centers, 3-2-2-2-3 edge pairing, then using Roux for 3x3, which kinda sucks because M slices). I don't know if I'm going to be very successful solving like this in the long run, or if it's just me being bad at reduction right now. I do really enjoy 4x4, but I'm pretty set on Roux for 3x3. I guess I could use Yau for 4x4 and then use CFOP only for big cubes... but is that advisable?

Also, are there any recommended tutorials on modding a 5x5?

You should use meyer's method for big cubes. It is like yau for roux. Or you could use a direct solving method like kenneth's big cubes method or k4.
Use Florian's tutorial.

Wca competition cube size

I'm wondering if a fangshi 54.6mm illusion cube allowed in wca competitions or you can only use 57mm??
Ps can you use any size?

I used to have a white v7 but I gave it to a friend who likes cubing. I received a black v7 a few days ago and has started to break in quite well, but I have heard the black never quite reaches the same quality as a white v7. Is this true?? That would be disappointing....(also, don't say "get a shenghou!" because I already have one and hate it)

Also, do v7's really get too loose over time? My old one never did....

I cant comment on the black and white difference, but mine got really loose after quite some time
You could try to make an adjustable core, though

What is a good way to keep the caps in the calvin square 1? It's mainly the white/yellow edge caps and I don't want to disassemble the puzzle and I don't want to risk using super glue or something. I already tried putting lube where it sticks and it didn't work. Is there a good way of using the paper trick or something? or another way to make them stay?

Paper trick worked perfectly for me. Just cut/tear a piece of paper into the exact shape and size of the piece (going by the outside of the piece, not the inner hollow part), set it on top of the piece, and crush the cap onto it.
