Why only ZBLL? Any LL case could happen after an F2L skip. You'd also need to multiply by 6 because of the 6 different colors the solved F2L could appear on.
My bad. Totally forgot ZBLL has all edges oriented.
So number of LL cases/43something very large number
Anyway, I have a nub pyra question. I don't feel like learning too many algs, but what is something like the equivalent of Ortega for pyra? I'm cool with using a couple different methods as long as I don't need half a million algs. I guess I'm saying I want a decently fast method that doesn't require a ton of effort to learn, like Ortega lol

I am currently using a 57mm Guhong v2 for OH but it is a little big so it hurts my hand and is hard to do U and R'. How much of a difference will a 55mm cube make? It doesnt seem like 2mm would change much.

went down to sub 20 by just changing to a 54.6mm cube. Now I can't stand using anything bigger than 55mm for OH
I could barely maintain a sub 24 average with my 57mm cube and now I'm almost consistently sub 20 with my mini fangshi shuangren. My problem with my 55mm zhanchi was I couldn't make it fast enough to my liking no matter what I did. It just stayed slower than my rubik's brand.
I overheard some guy at a competition bragging that he could always avoid parity on a 5x5. It would be kind of awesome if that were possible since I am slow at the parity alg and it takes me 5 seconds on a 5x5. Is this actually possible??
Another question. I am starting to like 2x2 but I only average 6.0-7.0 with ortega. What is the next step to gettting sub-5 averages? Can it be done with ortega if I suck at lookahead/predicting the oll case? Is there a faster method that doesn't require more than 20ish algs?

Practice getting good at predicting the OLL case. And also you should note if first layer is solved, adjacent or diagonal... if you have a bar, take note of where it's going to be after you finish your first face. My PBL algs generally require bar on left or bar on back so I try to solve the first face so that the bar is in those positions.
I would expect that to be around 162 (# of WV cases * 6 CP cases), but that only covers the R U' R' insertion, so you'd want to be able to mirror all of those, and then you still wouldn't be able to efficiently use it in every solve anyway
Hey guys, i just started cubing about 3 months ago, and I average around 35 seconds 3x3. I was wondering if I should start practicing speed cubing some larger cubes or should I just keep practicing the 3x3 until i become more proficient?

I tried making algs for that once. I got bored after the first WV case. As uberCuber said, there are 6 for each WV case, one of which can always be solved 2-gen.

You'd be surprised. I went for a 54.6mm cube, because people said 2mm made a difference but I knew my hands weren't that big, so I chose a cube .6mm smaller. I really like the FangShi; it's also my main for 2H. A 55mm cube is just as good, but some people do find 50mm too small. Try a 55mm/54.6mm cube first.

1- If you're not already, become colour neutral. It's easy on 2x2. Start as early as possible (i.e. now if you aren't already).
2- Get good algs. You don't want to be wasting time regripping and/or rotating when the solve is so short. Look around different websites to find ones you like. Here are some of the algs that I use/other people use:
OLL:
U: F R U R' U' F'
T: R U R' U' R' F R F'
H: R2 U2 R(') U2 R2
Pi: F R U R' U' R U R' U' F'
L: F R U' R' U' R U R' F'
S: R U R' U R U2 R'
A: R U2 R' U' R U' R' PBL:
adj/solv: R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' // R' F R F' R U2 R' U R U2 R'
opp/solv: F R U' R' U' R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R F' // R U' R' U' F2 U' R U R' D R2
adj/adj: R2 U' R2 U2 [y] R2 U' R2 / R2 U' R2 U' D' R2 U' R2 // R2 U' R2 U2 F2 U' R2 // [y2] R2 U' B2 U2 R2 U' R2
opp/opp: R2 F2 R2
adj/opp: L F' R U2 R' U R' // R U' R F2 R' U R' // [y2] R' U R' F2 R F' R
Only learn one of each for now; learning PBLs from different angles isn't for sub-5.
3- Learn to predict the permutation of your first layer during inspection. It isn't that difficult when you already have two pieces adjacent to each other. Also, learn 2-sided PUL (permutation of U layer recog): if one face has two opposite colours (red/orange, green/blue, white/yellow) and the other doesn't, then the two pieces opposite that side are solved and you have an adjacent swap on that face. If both have two opposite colours on, it's a diagonal swap on that layer. If you can see two or more solved pieces... it should be obvious Just remember that if you start doing this, then you'll have to use OLLs that don't affect the first layer. When looking for good algs, you may find some that affect the permutation of the first layer but are faster; don't use these.
4- Get a good cube. The Dayan, Wittwo and LingPo are all fast. I don't usually like fast cubes, but for 2x2 getting me a LingPo dropped my times from sup-6 (I used to average 5.5 but didn't practise) to sub-5 almost instantly. My old cube had a broken centre and popped quite a bit.
I know it seems like a lot, but the first two really aren't too difficult; you may have done one of them already. You also could've done the fourth already. Practise the third one (predicting permutation of the first layer), and before long you shouldn't have any trouble predicting it in inspection.
EDIT: and if you have a really easy 2-3 move face, then try to predict OLL too, but don't try to predict OLL too much if you're still averaging sup-6.
