About Florian modded SS 5x5's: How prone to pop is that puzzle when tensioned correctly? When I try to turn fast (as suggested by cyoubx in his 5x5 tutorial) I get pops often. The pop takes out one edge piece, one center corner piece and one center "center" piece (the one next to the center corner). Should I just tighten my puzzle or is this relatively normal? As is I cant get my cube to lock up. It just pops up. Its usually one center corner or the trio of pieces I already mentioned.

I've done the mod already once before and I don't think I've overmodded the puzzle the second time.

Same problem. CBC says it's normal.

Put in dayan springs and make it really tight. Fast cube and never pops.

How is CMLL that you would learn for Roux different from CLL you would learn for 2x2?

A6 (diagonal corner swap):

2x2 CLL: R U' R' D' L2 D' L U L' D L2

As you can see, this works on a 2x2, but on a 3x3 it is a total disaster. But sometimes a slight modification on the algorithm can work:

3x3 CMLL: R U' r' d' L2 D' L U L' D L2 (y)

And there are other CxLLs, like, the COLL, wich is a CLL on the 3x3 but preserves both the F2L and the orientation of the last layer edges.

3x3 COLL: Y-PLL

So, every CMLL works on a 2x2, but not every CLL (designed for 2x2) works on a 3x3 as CMLL. And because the 2x2 CLLs must preserve less of the elements, sometimes it can be shorter / easier than a CMLL.

I'll try this, thanks!

I'll try what YddEd said and post the results here. If you are referring to the florian mod video where CBC shows his Florian mod (with the huge gaps) these two cant really be compared. CBCs florian modded cube was obviously overmodded.

Sorry for the double post but I felt like I had to update everyone on how it ended;

The cube feels like its a completely other cube now. It went from smooth to clicky; the layers do not bend anymore and the pieces dont pop. The outer layer feels a little loose which creates some very minor lock ups. My mod is well done and the pieces are well rounded so usually the pieces just slide at contact instead of locking up.

Its a very odd combination of a flimsy clicky feeling and a very stable cube. I'll see how my times react!

ANOTHER QUESTION;

Do the fast 2x2 solvers (like sub 3) plan the whole solve during the inspection? Cyotheking had no visible lookahead pause between first and last layer.
