What Ben is so wonderfully trying to explain is that you don't need these types of algs to get sub10, but it will speed you up. You can't get sub10 by only learning algs, you have to have a good knowledge of the cube, and you need to be able to lookahead well.

O so I searched the WCA regulations page, and searched the forum but I can't find an answer: if you get more than one DNF in an average in a comp, is it considered a DNF average? I thought I heard that somewhere.

short answer: Yes.
longer answer: If it's an ao5 event, 2 DNFs will make a DNF average. If it's a mo3 event, 1 DNF will make a DNF average.

Only listing things that have stuck and not really been ignored:
new core for mf8 legends, another SS 4x4 (the v5), a mini SS 7x7, dayan 2x2, v cube 4 (still not as good as shengshou), dayan megaminx/mf8 v3 megaminx? (not sure if they were out yet), and knock off zhanchi (the fangcun, don't know if that was out already when you were out of the loop)
Of the new cubes, the really good ones for fast cubers are: fangshi shuangren (there's a 57mm and 54.6mm and they just came out with a v2), moyu weilong (best cube ever), and moyu huanying (feels too cheap), mini zhanchi's? (not sure if they were around a year ago)

When I click a link on the Wiki for an alg it takes me to alg.garron.us with the alg listed but the cube is in solved state. What am I doing wrong to see the alg?
Edit: all items in alg.garron.us do the same. Even links posted by Lucas in other threads. Something wrong with my java?

I've been having the same problem since yesterday. I don't know why it's not working. Anyone have an idea?
I'm pretty sure it's not java because I use java a lot and everything else has been working.

alright cool. I am glad its not just me. I tried on my work computer yesterday with the same results. I also ran a Java test and everything is working

Any 4x4x4 guide is great. All you need to know is how reduction works (centers, edgepairing and parity errors). It does not really need that good of a tutorial, you will understand when you try. I personally learned from this tutorial:
