What are some good algs to learn for 3x3? I know full oll and pll. I started learning Winter Variation, but it rarely comes up in a solve. I know around 10 of those algs. What else is there? F2L tricks maybe? (where can I find some useful ones) Thanks.

I'm looking to get some Lubix (lube). What is going to be the best website for me to order from? I live in Australia and I don't want to pay too much on postage. So basically, after paying all expenses (price + postage), what site is going to best for me to order from?

Thanks in advance :)

For English sites that use PayPal:

These prices are for 2cc Lubix. This is the only item in the cart.

LubixCube: $14.94 USD
SpeedCubeShop: Total $16.94 USD

ICubeMart and Cubedepot also have Lubix, but have Google Checkout, so I can't check the prices of shipping on those sites. But in general (at least in the past - I haven't checked recently), ICubeMart has very expensive shipping and Cubedepot has cheap shipping, so I would expect it is the same with lube.

For 5cc Cubesmith.com Lube: $17.49 USD

Cubesmith Lube is pretty much the same as Lubix.

BTW, you can get diff oil or shock oil from hobby shops for much cheaper. Many people believe diff oil/shock oil is just good as Lubix. If you are in NSW, you can get diff oil from HobbyCo for $13.50AUD for ~55cc.

Thanks for that :) What is the least amount of diff oil that you can buy (as in how many cc?)

I currently know intuitive f2l and kind of suck at it. I want to learn algorithms but a lot of people says that it doesn't really make a difference. Should I stick with intuitive f2l and learn new tricks, or just learn the algorithms?

Stick with intuitive and learn tricks. Most of the time, the intuitive way is the best way, but learn tricks for when the two pieces are together.

Some people have said that the white zhanchi is much better than the black, but what about the guhong v2? I have a guhong v2 DIY kit, and I'm just wondering.

Just got a ZhanChi but...

Got it off Amazon. Except I think there's a few problems. I've only owned the official Rubik's brand.

First, on two of the faces, when I turn them, I can hear the springs creak. Is this normal? My old one never creaked.

Second, it seems to pop a lot. When I cut corners a little bit it pops or almost pops. Why is that? I heard this cube had great corner cutting.

Third, would this be a good lubricant ( http://www.amazon.com/CRC-05074-Sil...G/ref=sr_1_1?hasie=UTF8&qid=1335827759&sr=8-1 )? The cube has no lube whatsoever. This seems to be a decent lubricant. The reviews are mixed, some saying it lubed their cubes well, others saying it melted them. What's your opinion? Could you recommend any other lubes that I can buy off Amazon?

Well for the lubricant you should get this as it is better.

I would not recommend crc at all.. for a cube like a Zhanchi, stick with silicon gels like Lubix. The propellant in crc melts the plastic on your cube. As for popping, if it has no torpedoes in it it is possible that it will pop a lot. You can give it more tension and that may help. Springs creaking is nothing serious, a bit of lube in the core can fix this although it's really not a problem just an annoyance.

You can use that lube, but to get the best results i would recommend something like lubix or silicube lube.

Defective cube4you DIY?

Hi,

its kind of a long post so i do not think it fits in the one answer question thread

In February of this year I recieved a free c4y cube with my order, it is glow in the dark green 3x3x3, after assembly (i did it properly for the most part) i tensioned it but did not lube it. After a couple solves i decided that it was terrible, but perhaps it needed a few more solves to break it in and some lube, so i sold it to my friend, and he tensioned lubed and solved it a ton, after about a week he gave it back to me and demanded a refund, the cube was impossible to turn and kept locking up and making clicky noises. I took it apart and it was full of plastic dust and residue like it had been grinding and catching with tons of friction. I washed it and then fully disassembled the core. I realized that the washers were in the wrong spot so i switched those around and messed with the tension i had it super loose and it was still terrible to turn, then i had it super tight, still terrible, i lubed it but to no avail, so is it defective or crap or what?

additional info:

It did not have bottom caps on the edge pieces, could that be the problem?

it's normal & tighten screws then it will never pop.
