Alright, so around 4 months ago I got a shengshou v3 at icubemart and for some reason it just sucks. This was the first 4x4 I have cubed with, and out of the box, it was decently fast and overall just okay. But after a while, it popped and I ended up taking the whole thing apart because I couldn't jam the little pieces that go around the core back into place. So eventually I did get it back together by loosening the tensions and once I was done, I tightened it some thinking that would prevent it from popping. After tightening, it was pretty slow and locky, and what do you know, it kept on popping every month or so (I didn't use it much anyway), but I was able to put it back together fairly quickly. Also the corner caps kept on popping off like every solve which was very annoying. A few days ago, the whole cube popped once again and I just gave up trying to fix it and left it in a jumble of pieces. So what my question is after all of this gibberish is, do I have a faulty cube, should I just deal with it, or should I get a new cube, and if so, what cube should I get?

^With a little practice the cube becomes easy to put back together. I also think my SSv3 isn't so great, and I want a Dayan+mf8 because of it. Maybe we just got unlucky? If you have the money feel free to get a new one, but I'm stuck with mine :p

It seems that Shengshou VIIIs are hit or miss. In my case, mine is excellent and has never popped/been slow/etc. You should probably get a new cube, but it's up to you if you want to risk getting another bad SSVIII. In my opinion, you probably won't; but if you want to try something else, get a Dayan+mf8. However, do NOT get the mini, in the long run it won't perform as well as the regular size. The cube however, needs quite a bit of lubing/tensioning/breaking in out of the box, and pops quite a bit more than the SSVIII.

Thanks, when the Dyan+mf8 pops, is it just an edge/corner that pops out and is easily put back together, or is it like the Shengshou and you have to spend like 5 minutes putting the little pieces connected to the core back together?
