I need a shengshou 4x4 assembly tutorial... or at least some tips. I can't find any on youtube.

I just did the alg I posted, it swapped the centers. Don't you ...... me.

my point was not that your alg does not do what it is intended to do, my point was that, as I had said two posts above yours, that is doing more moves than you need to do. And since 6x6 is not exactly the easiest cube to turn, I would want to save as many moves as I can. 3R2 U2 D2 3R2 is faster than 3R2 U2 3R2 3L2 U2 3R2.

Freeslice afaik is an edge building method, you build two opposite centers and pair the rest in 2x1 blocks (4x4) so that you can pair many of the edges using the slice between your first built centers. After you have filled the edges around yuur centers (L, R) you can easily finish your centers with U2, F2, B2, D2 and r or l slices.

So it would go something like
Opposite centers
8 edge pairs.
Remaining centers
then last four edge pairs

Any good alg for swapping two adj corners on the 4x4? opp + T perm seems kinda slow and I get this case pretty often. And one for opp corners would be nice too. Thanks.

look for a maru tutorial, or follow an x-cube, they are all similar enough that one should at least get you started

ummm.... I believe that is the Yau method.

What other big cube edge pairing methods exist? Right now with 5x5 and 7x7 I'm using a method that seems to be much quicker and more efficient(not to mention more fun) than the standard beginners pairing method. Basically I build one full edge by doing slices of the middle layers. I then move that edge to the right or left side of the cube and continue to build 7 other edges using the same method. After putting all 8 edges around the right and left sides of the cube I reassemble the center around the middle. then I pair the remaining 4 edges using some simple algorithms or the basic beginners method edge pairing depending on the situations.

I was solving the Rubik's magic, but then one of the strings popped out. How can i fix it? It's just one string, so i don't want to restring the hole thing. Can i just cut the string with a scissor and use the Rubik's magic with one string less or do i have to replace it?

What's your T perm time look like? It's more moves then some others, but depending on your T perm time it can be fast. I can personally sub 1.5 it because my T perm is like 1.00 even.

It's your own style. I have ultimate/elite so I can answer. The elite is slower to turn, but it gives you more control. I personally like it more because of no clickiness, and the slower(ness) of the cube doesn't affect me. I actually prefer the cube to be (slightly) slower so I can control it more, since I tend to lockup a lot when I reach high TPS.

Ultimate is cheaper, and is a good cube to get.

The elite (at $35) isn't worth getting unless you
1) Have the money)
2) Find the ultimate too fast (give yourself a week to adjust to the speed before making a decision)

I found the elite perfect for me. I have no plans of using any other cube as my main at this moment. The elite doesn't take effort to turn, no cube should. It just isn't as fast. So you heard wrong :).

wait, if this (simple freeslicing) isn't a standard beginners method for large cubes, what is? I have always used this thinking that it was a beginner-like edge method lol..
