I have a question.
I solve 4x4 as follows:
Solve Centers 15 seconds
Pair edges 2 at a time 40 seconds
Solve as 3x3 30 seconds

Now, please don't tell me to learn yau, or 6 at a time pairing, or better parity algs, I am not asking how to get faster. I am just wondering, with the method I use how fast could it get without changing anything?

You're describing redux with a bad edge pairing method, so probably sub 40.

The One Answer Question Thread

What's wrong with 2-pairing? It's must be pretty good if you can average sub40 with it.

nonono I meant if he fixed his edge pairing it could be sub 40 because it's redux.

It's not that 2 pairing is terrible, I just don't feel like it's the best method of edge pairing. Then again I kinda suck at 4x4 so take it with a grain of salt..

edit: I'm a tired idiot, I'm confusing one pairing with two pairing..

Well I average 1:40 with basically one-pairing and occasional 2 pairing
and 1:30 with 3-2-2-2-3
and 1:20 with Yau

so it must not be that atrocious, considering I never practice it and it's not *that* far from my regular average. But I'm not exactly the fastest, so the limit could be different.

But you're right, 2 pairing really isn't the best way to go. It's sort of like how people can sub 20 human thistlewaite/Kociemba/domino redux (probably butchered the spelling), that doesn't mean that it's the best method for speedsolving, even if it has been proven to be sub-20able. (and I think sub 15 too, didn't Ben do that?)

Notations switch D and B for each other. They mean the exact same thing.

OK. But prisma has D and B in scrambles...

If a mod deletes one of your posts, do you get notified of it or do you not know that it was deleted at all?

If your post gets deleted I don't think you get notified, but if your thread gets deleted I think you do get notified.

Usually the mod will contact you to tell you that you did something wrong. Sometimes they don't though, I've had mods edit my posts from time to time for various small rule breaks, without contacting me.

if you get an infraction for the post you will get notified, if you don't get an infraction then it seems to be up to the mod. sometimes i get notified for non-infraction deletions, sometimes i don't.

setup: R U' R B' R' B R'

what's the best way to solve this F2L case? from any angle?
i currently know these ways:

R B' R B R' U R' = 7 moves
R U R' U y' R' U' R = 7 moves + rotation
(U') R U R' U' y' R' U R = 7 moves + rotation
(U') R U M' U R' U' M = 7 moves
(U') R U R' F R' F' R = 7 moves
(U') R U' M U' R' U M' = 7 moves

i wanna know what you guys prefer
