If you are colour neutral, go with the easiest cross, usually this means shorter solution and therefore there are shorter moves to go through during the inspection to find your first pair.
Anyway, I usually kinda go by instinct to check whichever ce pair will be minimally affected by the cross moves. And since usually corner and edge are not actually nearby in the beginning, don't bother with finding which edge will be minimally affected by the cross moves, since corners are usually harder to track, while edge is pretty easy, but that may be just me.
Not exactly sure what you mean, I'm assuming you mean in terms of the pieces? It cycles the UFR UBR and UBL corners anticlockwise and twists them clockwise. It's referred to as Niklas.
Since all my OLL and PLL algs are muscle memory i can't do them OH. Do i just have to practice them all one by one and learn some new ones that are better for OH? Anyone else have this problem?

Everyone does, it's called OH amnesia. You could learn new OH algs if you really wanted to, but I just re-learned the algs with my OH hand, it's fairly easy, you just have to re-remember the tricks you learned to remember the alg. (i.e. T perm is sexysledge canceling into first part of Y perm)
