75 BPM is 1.25 TPS, which isn't that much. If you want to sub-8 your entire F2L, you'll want around 240 BPM, or if you just mean pairs then 180 BPM should be fine.

Thats insane. I can't look ahead at that speed. That means I have a long time before I'm sub 20. :( Reducing 3 seconds is so hard. I need to do a crapton of solves like Kennan. I want to learn and practice another method so that I can do sub 20 with 20 methods like Ben and Kir and 5BLD. I am currently looking at Roux and ZZ. Which one should I learn first?

Forget metronome and forget 20 methods sub-20. You can't even do one yet.

Metronome training is like saying you're going to train to run 10 miles in one hour by making sure you run a mile every 6 minutes. It'll help you pace yourself but if the limit of your ability is 1.5 hours it won't help you run faster. Instead, practise solving F2L cases with your eyes closed. Do it over and over - not for hours, but days or weeks.

Also try this. Do an ao100. Then stay off the forums for a whole week and practise. Don't even read the forums. Spend the time practising instead of wasting time on here asking about practising. Then do another ao100 and come back and report your improvement in the accomplishment thread.

Absolutely disagreed. Metronome training is like forcing yourself to practice your sprinting technique, or do weight training, so that you can break barriers, rather than just sprinting the 100m over and over and over and over... most people don't look ahead in their 3x3 solves, even until quite a high level, perhaps sub12, it's common to rely on quick recognition and fast turning. Metronome training forces you to turn smoothly and without breaks, concentrating on the next pair rather than the last. Practicing by doing solves over and over is not an efficient way to improve.

Well , I can only speak from personal experience. I spent a lot of time on metronome training and ultimately found it ineffective for initially learning lookahead. (Maybe for those who can already look ahead and want to improve, it might help.)

This is what I disagree with. A ticking metronome can't force you to do things you can't do. It doesn't help you concentrate on the next pair. It just ticks. If you cannot take your eyes or mind off the current pair, you just miss beats. That is why I recommend starting out with blind pairs practice.

Practicing by doing solves over and over is not an efficient way to improve.
Absolutely agree, but that's not what I recommended.

Yeah, I haven't ever really found a great algorithm. My method is just to separate them and reinsert them. It takes a while, but it doesn't take that long. My way: R U' R' U y' R' U2 R U R' U2 R.

For this case I also just take them out separate and reinsert. Mi way goes like this (doing the Fs with my left hand): F' U' F U2 F' U2 F U' R U R'. Perhaps correct notation would include y, change all Fs for Ls, and then y' R U R', but you know what I mean.

I have also watched that video with the awesome big "thumbtrick" but my problem with F2L algs is that they block my ability to lookahead so in the end I am slower. Anyway I tried but I couldn't execute that trick faster than my way, so I'll stick to my way, for now.

I can't look ahead at that speed sometimes; I slow down and speed up during my F2L so I can keep turning. That's why I don't like using a metronome. Other people like forcing themselves to keep up with it though, so it's your choice whether or not you want to use it.
If improving by 3 seconds is hard, improve by one second. Then do that again. And again. If you set yourself goals that are too far from where you are now and that you won't be able to reach relatively soon, they probably aren't great goals. If you average 23, try to drop your average to 22 first.
For Roux or ZZ, learn whichever. Roux is very different to CFOP and will help you understand the cube a lot more (at least it did with me), and ZZ is more similar to CFOP, but don't be tempted to do the F2L like you would do in CFOP. You're supposed to use blockbuilding for the F2L, so don't do EOCrosses, do EOLines. EOLines are very hard at first, and you will continue to find them hard for weeks, but don't let that put you off, because ZZ is a very good method once you can do EOLines well.

tldr learn both
I asked a few times; it's his own method he's still developing. It looks really efficient. I don't understand what he's doing until it's solved...

Hey Guys

Do you have some easy old pochmann bld scrambles for me?
Preferably some with one cycle edges and corners.

my buffers are UR for edges and ULB for corners.

Thanks

you should stop being silly first

it's a secret. he told me the method and i am learning the algs for it, it is pretty cool
