After one year of service to me, my very devoted F2 has started to decline over this month. I was thinking about getting a Lubix Ultimate GuHong. Will this be suitable for someone so used to the feel of the glorious F2?

I used to use an FII, but then switched to a (normal) Guhong. It took a long time to get used to but I did.

Is the Mefferts Pyraminx worth the extra $11 over the QJ Pyraminx?

The QJ is faster, but locks up a bit more and the tips on the Mefferts are alot better.

I think is LunHui! yes or no?

It depends. What I've gathered from posts here, the GuHong would be the better choice for the general masses (ie. those that don't want to keep buying cubes until they find the one that suits them the most). It's a good all-round performer. The LunHui demands a more refined handling in order to prevent annoying lockups, but it has redeeming properties that exceed those of the GuHong. I prefer the LunHui over the GuHong but it did take a while longer to get used to the LunHui. The Guhong is really easy to get used to.

Just got my lingyun - a real surprise. It corrected my perception that it is a popping cube - I believe it pops only for those who set tension loose.
I set it to where it is able to cut 35-40 deg. And it has yet to pop on me.
Its advantage over lunhui - it is lighter and with almost no lockups (doesnt mean lunhui locks up a lot).
Disadvantage? I can't really 'cut loose' for fear of pop explosion (as i would a lunhui).

For those who prefers tighter tension, get this cube before it disappears...just bear in mind - it is a cube in its own right, not a guhong-next-gen.

Yeah, it's a really nice cube right?
Just cut loose and try to define its limits according to your style. Otherwise you'll just be holding yourself AND the cube back. It can actually take quite a beating before it pops, you'd be surprised. And it doesn't take long to put back together anyway...

I would say no. My Lunhui is slow and locks-up.

I had really bad lockups when I first tensioned my LunHui. They were so bad and frequent, that I was really wondering what DaYan was thinking when they approved the final design of the cube. After loosening it to what seems ridiculously loose, it locked up a lot less. The speed really went up too. Worth a try if you haven't already done so yet ;)

Yeah- my lunhui is set ridiculously loose (would pop any other cube. lol). But those who are used to tighter tension will need to adjust their cubing style.

Anyway, I plan to order another lingyun before it disappears...

I already have two, but I need to get at least 1 more DIY kit that I can stash somewhere. Just in case the two I have ever break ;)

lol

I cut loose, and it exploded. Guess I am used to the lunhui.
I then took off the washer, lubed the springs+screws. Heck - its super fast right now despite tightening the tension almost to the max.
love it!

Ooops...
Yeah, I can't stress enough how important it is to lube under the screw-head and under the spring-base (or on the washers if they're in there). Would you mind trying to put the washers back in to see is it makes a speed difference though? Because removing the washers doesn't make a difference on mine :(

May try to put it back when I next clean the insides. I think it is all in the tension rather than the washers.
