It's personal preference between Dayan Guhong, Dayan Lingyun, Dayan Lunhui, A5/Haiyan's Memory, and (somewhat) the FII.
 
So I'm going to get a new 3x3, and I'm wondering which of the three I should get. I'm thinking of either getting an ultimate guhong, a godly guhong (from izovire, probably is a little better, but costs more), or I might wait till the ultimate zhanchi comes out. What do you guys think?

I don't know....I have a standard guhong, and I've lubed, tensioned, and broken it in and everything, but it still is pretty bad. It can kind of cut corners, maybe 20-30 degrees, but it can barely reverse corner cut at all, and from what I've heard about a guhong, it's supposed to be better than that. Are all standard guhongs like that, or did I just get a "bad" guhong?

I'll try that as soon as I can get my guhong working again. A few of the centers are all messed up. I posted about it here, so I'm just waiting to see if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix it. I'll see how it works afterwords though.

Ok, I've tried what you said, and it still kinda sucks. The layers are catching really bad on something, but I might have just messed something up when reassembling it. Should I just get another regular guhong, or spend 5-7 dollars more for an ultimate?

I had that with one of my GuHongs. It was really rough and quite sh*t to put it mildly. I never did figure out what problem was and ended up giving it away. Just get a new one, preferably a white one. Black GuHongs(at least out of those that I own) turn less smoothly. And no, my black ones aren't POM ;)

My FII does not lockup, and Guhongs are not that smooth.
