Looking at getting a
-2x2x2
-4x4x4
-5x5x5
Already have a store bought 3x3x3 and GuHong.
Dont know how people judge their turning style (only been cubing couple of weeks) but i would say im pretty sloppy.
Pretty sure im going to get the MF8+Dayan 4x4x4 but would appreciate others suggestions. Was thinking about the 5 layer V-cube but heard the break in time is very long and since my main goal is to beat my friend at 3x3x3 i wont be using 5x5x5 that much so something thats pretty fast out of the box (+ lubing) would be ideal but if the v-cube is really the best then i dont mind.
2x2x2 im unsure what to get the 2 layer v-cube just came out and people say its as fast as any other cube maybe faster. If it is the fastest i dont mind paying the premium compared to other 2x2x2 cube prices but what do you guys suggest. Cheers, Sam.

I reckon 2x2 eastsheen- only tried it once but it was alright
4x4 whatever you do don't go for rubiks (lol) perhaps MAru
I don't do 5x5 :)

my q
should i buy a dayan zhanchi or alpha cc when i get faster?

The only cube I know how to solve is the 3x3, and I would like to get a new type. (not 3x3) I'm most likely going to get a 2x2, but I was wondering what would be a fun, but not too hard challenge is.

I would say a 2x2 or 4x4. I personally also found the Cube4You 3x3x7 to be a really fun puzzle to solve.

I just recently got a 4x4 and a megaminx and both are fun and slightly more challenging than the 3x3 if you want to move up a step as far as difficulty.

The megaminx requires few if any new algorithms to solve, just there's a lot more pieces so you have to do the equivalent of f2l several times more and recognition is a bit harder.

4x4 does need 3 or 4 new algorithms to solve but is still not that hard. The only hard one to learn is the one for flipping a single dedge piece and even with that it only took me a few hours to learn how to solve(took far longer to put the *$%%^$ thing together in the first place after taking it apart initially to lube/adjust tensions etc than it did to actually learn how to solve it). Also might be worth considering that if you get a 4x4, you can basically use it to simulate a 3x3(by only turning the outer layers) or 2x2(only using double layer turns) as well so it's sort of like getting 3 cubes in one(course a bit slower than the real thing)

ok... maybe u guys didn't see the post :)
(heyy i did answer the other guy's q :)

Thanks and don't get angry at me for insisting on my q :)

I'm wondering what the pros and cons are for the Dayan cubes (Guhong, Lunhui, and Lingyun).
Which one do you think is the best?
Thanks in advance.

Seriously, if you don't know what you're talking about, just repeat the general consensus on the forums.
Eastsheen 2x2's are s**t, and almost no one recommends the Maru 4x4 anymore cause there are better alternatives in every price bracket (that don't misalign).

As for the Zhanchi, or CC, it's really hard to tell which to get as none of them are released. It's probably a safer bet to go for the Zhanchi, as it's based on a great cube (Guhong) and the early prototype reviews are promising.

I'm wondering what the pros and cons are for the Dayan cubes (Guhong, Lunhui, and Lingyun).

All of them share a basic mechanical design that is great for cutting corners (and reverse corner cutting), and rarely lockup.
The GuHong is smooth and light, but can sometimes be a little difficult to control I used to find myself doing accidental turns, before I got used to it.
The LingYun is a fraction smaller, it's a little more clicky, which helps stability, however it's kinda famous for popping (typically 2 or 3 pieces when it happens)
The LunHui is like an improved LingYun, it's almost completely unpoppable, however it's a fare bit heavier than the other two. I found it really nice and stable to move, however my fingers did get tired quite quickly on it (but maybe that's just be being a woose).
Personally I'd be happy with any one of these cubes as my main (mostly to do with the corner cutting and lack of locking up), however for personal preference I prefer the feel of the GuHong.

@ Godmil

Thanks for that. I think I'll get a Guhong now.
Until then I'll be practicing with my Rubik's brand. :[
