That doesn't mean anything. It's all about the cuber, not the cube.

So there is no reason at all that the 5x5 WR couldn't be broken on a Rubik's brand 5x5?

That phrase ("it's the cuber not the cube") is complete rubbish. Yes a fast cuber can be faster on a poor cube than a slow cuber with a good cube... but guess what: any cuber is faster relative to themselves with a good cube than a poor cube. That is true. Any attempt to water down the argument ("it's *mostly* the cuber...") may be closer to the truth, but it then follows that 'it's the cuber not the cube' is false.

Is Ultimate Lubix Zhanchi worth the price?
Depends on what you can afford. If you're perfectly happy to spend a few dollars extra to have someone else lube it well from the inside out and set the tension nice out of the box then yes (I certainly always buy my mains from Lubix), but if you don't have much money to throw around, then there is nothing wrong with buying a normal version and spending the time setting it up yourself.

I'm about to buy a 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, 6x6 and 7x7. I've only ever used black cubes, but chances are I'll be buying the white vcube 7. Are white cubes easy to get used to? I used my friend's white Lunhui and found the red and orange really similar. Should I buy the black or white 7x7?

Buy whichever you like. :)
My 2x2s and 3x3s are black, and bigcubes are white. I have no problem switching between them.

The chances are, on the big cubes, you won't be turning nearly as fast as on a 3x3 if you're not that experienced with them, so colour recognition should definitely not be a problem. I use white cubes mainly and have no problem switching to my black 5x5

This isn't a "what cube should I get" question- rather, where should I get it? I'm finding a lot of websites, but I'm a little concerned they aren't reliable enough...

Asia: lightake, champion51, pickegg, witeden, Mefferts...
USA: cubedepot, puzzle addiction, lubix, speedcubeshop...

Those are just the first ones that I could think of.
If it takes Paypal, that's a good sign. If it's only on Ebay and seems too cheap to be true, then that's a bad sign.

If you find a store you like and aren't sure if it's legit, mention it in the One Answer Question Thread and I'm sure someone will say if it's a reputable store.

Is SS 5x5 way better than QJ 5x5? My friend got an extra one and I was wondering if I should ask to have it. I currently have a tiled QJ 5x5.

My last two orders were from pickegg, they were much faster delivery than lightake and came in really nice packaging (cardboard box). I was very happy with them.

How long did your order take? I've been waiting over 2 weeks and it still hasn't come.

YEAH! It took almost a month but today my lubix zhanchi has arrived.

First impression: WHOA! it is really really fast and turns smooth and quiet!

It is a HUGE difference with my "well broken-in" Rubik store bought. Previously I was on ~35 sec average of 12 and now in my first attempt Ao12 with the zhanchi I record 31.82 Ao12 with a sub30 Ao5 (29.50) and a nice NL 24.34! (my PB is a lucky 23.28).

I'm very happy with this cube! so I will continue my learning to reach my final goal of being sub 15.

Nico.

I'd like to get a 2x2x2, 4x4x4 & 5x5x5. I have no idea about big cubes, or the 2x2x2.

I like them to be able to cut corners well, have a smooth but clicky feel to them (not so important) and never ever ever ever lock up :)

If someone could suggest some along with prices/websites then that would be great!

Thanks

I have no experience whatsoever with a speedcube. i recently bought my third rubik's brand cube and thought that maybe i should look for better (though i'm still 30-ish, and using a speedcube probably wouldn't affect it much). I have no idea how many speedcubes there are.

I don't know if this matters, but i don't have more than 20 euros to put aside for this.

What should i get?
