5x5 comparison

Which is smoother and better, the Yuxin 5x5 or the moyu huachuang?

Im looking to buy a stickerless 3x3 and I was wondering if anybody could tell me how the aolong v2 and qiyi thunderclap are in stickerless. Or any recommendations of other stickerless 3x3s? :)

My main just broke. What speedcube do you guys think I should get? I average 40 seconds.

40s? What was your main?

Hualong, aolong, yuxin, meiying, gans 356, etc, etc, works...

As many of us reply to many people in this thread to more or less the same question: it's more a question of feeling and preferences than of speed. All the new speedcubes are fine for sub-8 second solvers and for sup-minute solvers. The question is, what do you prefer? fast, controllable, blocky, smooth... If you don't know you will have to try several cubes until you know. If you can't try several cubes (you don't have friends that cube, don't go to comps...) you will have to try and see, if you don't like it, see what you don't like and search for some other cube that's different. There are tons of video reviews on Youtube that can help you take a decision. Worst case scenario you will end up with 2-3 cubes. I have more than 14 :)

If you can tell us at least, which was your main, and what you liked / disliked of it maybe we can reduce the search for you.

I'm with you here. Guhong V2 was my very first speedcube and I have yet to find another cube that approaches it in smoothness. I have both the Aolong V1 and the Weilong V2 and neither one is close to a Guhong in that respect. If smooth is what you really want, I tried someone's Hualong at a comp once and that felt pretty good. Other than that, my experiences with brand new cubes is fairly limited.
I will say though that the mini Weilong is my main now, it still is fairly smooth but has much less lockiness than the Guhong.

Maybe my Hualong is not very well set up (in fact I still have it in out-of-the-box set up, haven't lubed or tensioned it) but I'd say Hualong is a bit bumpy so I would not call it smooth. Yeah, when turning one face with the cube perfectly aligned if feels smooth, but as soon as you use it in real speedsolves it starts to feel bumpy, more than the Aolong and, definitely more than the Weilong (mine is a v2).

If smooth is the key and not a cube "as new/recent as possible", then I agree with you all, I'd go with a Weilong. Plenty fast not just for simoneRoy and for now but for anybody and forever... well, or at least for the foreseeable future. I think right now the speed limit in 3x3 is us, not the cubes anymore.

Fun fact, the current 3x3 WR average was set with a Weilong.
