I think we're in similar boats. After a few more weeks of trying, the Bullfight isn't winning over my SuLong. The lack of reverse cutting is a bit annoying and it's too heavy and sluggish for extended use. I can hit some good singles with the Bullfight because it's stable and smooth but I get inconsistent times because it isn't light and snappy like the SuLong. The quest continues.
On the other hand, I'm warming up a little to the HuaLong as it breaks in. I'm shocked by how fast I can execute algorithms on that thing. Maybe with a bit more tinkering with tensions I can retain the speed but make it more stable. We'll see. I also have the YuXin 3x3 en route...
Retaking our conversation and opening up the question to anyone reading, of course. Well, you won't believe what happened. My Chilong desperately needed a cleaning and relubing and the Hualong had not arrived yet (and ofcourse neither the Thunderclap). So I chose another cube from my collection: the Moyu Huanying.
After a couple of days I started to get comfortable with it and my times were almost as good as with the Chilong. It is faster but not too unstable so, just being a bit more careful when turning and using much less force I managed to get consistent times with it. And today I have beaten my PB Ao50 and 100 with it!!!
So, was I so biased towards the Chilong that I didn't even give an opportunity to any other cubes I tried? Also, knowing that I now like the Huanying at least as much as the Chilong, does anybody have a recommendation? I have a Yueying but, for some reason, it doesn't feel half as good as the Huanying (maybe I haven't set it up correctly?). Would the Huanlong be a good choice (if it ever comes in the mail, almost 6 weeks already since it shipped)?
Of course, one recommendation could be: "stick to the Huanying". I'm just looking for possible improvements over that.
What I like about the Chilong: very stable
What I don't like about it: a bit slow, doesn't reverse corner-cut well
What I like about the Huanying: faster and still stable (if not as much as the Chilong), reverse corner cut not much better but, when it does it, it is effortless.
What I don't like: a bit rough and noisy, my fingers at times get inside the hollow corner pieces.
