I was thinking of getting the Bullfight, since you told me such great things of it but since I've heard also great things of the QiYi Thunderclap. Things like it is an improved Aolong v2 so now I'm in doubt. I don't know what to do... so I'll surely end up getting both :)

I watched a recent crazybadcuber review of the Thunderclap and he said it was just the Bullfight in a bigger box and a bag thrown in. Now I'm really confused...

Also, the other day I almost get a 50% sale at lightake for the Chilong. I lost it for a day or so but it was at 2,10 € each and I was thinking of getting two as a backup of my main, which already is a bit worn out from thousands of solves. Do you think that would be a good idea?

It can't hurt to pick up a few spares of your main, especially if they're cheap. Even if you switch mains you'll be able to give them away to unsuspecting victims.

Good Replacement for Weilong

Hello,
I am looking for a cube to replace my broken weilong v2. I am currently considering the QIYI Thunderclap, and the Moyu Hualong. Do you guys have any suggestions?
Thx

If you like fast cube I would recommend the MeiYing or HuaLong, if you like slow cube, I would recommend the YueYing (my main). Or you can simply buy another WeiLong (v1 is better I think)

I have a Thunderclap and it feels kind of like a faster, crunchier Weilong. I have both and i like both a lot, my Weilong needs some reviving so I've been using the Thunderclapas my main instead. I don't know about Hualong though, but the Qiyi is cheaper.

Although my times are slow, I personally love fast cubes. I have the MeiYing, and it's kinda too light or small or something --- It's just like the other 'ying' puzzles. They are great, but just not for me, and I get strange lockups despite their great corner cutting. How does the HuaLong feel?
Thanks for the help

Yeah, thats what I thought it sounded like. Is it your main?
EDIT: Lol sorry, didn't read the post fully :)

Yep, there are dozens of great 3x3s out there right now. It all depends on what you are aiming for:
- A cheap cube to get the taste of what a more modern speedcube can give you but without spending more than $7. I'd say get a Guanlong, Sulong or Chilong. The last one is my main and you can do sub-10 with it (not me yet but a good cuber can).
- The best cube you can get, spending between $11-$20. That's were the problem begins, because I don't know what you will like best. If you can try cubes from frieds I'd recommend that and then coming back with what you tried and what you liked / didn't like. If you can't try I'd suggest to go with one of the above 3 and then, after you have at least tried that, come back and we can perhaps help you better. If you have to go directly with a top-notch cube, a safe bet would be a Weilong or Aolong. But beware, they are not going to be 3 or 4 times better (as the price would suggest) than the others above that cost between $2 and $5 and you won't probably feel the difference, at least for some time. If my case can be a good reference, I have been cubing for almost 2 years, I am barely sub-20, I have a Weilong and Aolong (v1), a Huanying a YueYing, a Yuxin, a Gans 357, a Fhangshi Shuanren, a SS Aurora, a Zhanchi... and I still prefer my YJ Chilong to all those. An I also have a Sulong than comes close second to the Chilong, with Weilong and Aolong right behind those two.
Thanks for this elaborate reply! Hm, I don't have any friends that are cubers, however, I think I'll just follow your advice and order a ChiLong as it's not that expensive. Maybe I'll get a WeiLong or AoLong or something else later nevertheless, seems to be common among cubers to end up with a collection of thousand cubes. :D

Anyway, for whatever cube, would you recommend the Cubicle Silicone Lube? If yes, which weight?

For 2x2, the Dayan is a great choice. Used by all the fast people.
Alright, I'll go for a Dayan 2x2 so. :)

I started using Maru but it lasted for just a few days and, even if applying it was very easy, it was a bit of a nuissance. It also did not solve the issue with lubing the core and getting rid of spring noise so I changed to silicone oil. I'm using TheCubicle silicone with very good results. I use weight 5 for the core and weight 2 or 3 for the pieces, depending on the cube. You can find some good video tutorials on how to lube a cube with silicone oil. I mainly follow Cubeologist's "How to lube and tension a Moyu Aolong" tutorial and it works great for me. Be careful to not put too much lube in either the core or the pieces because it will make the cube a bit gummy and it will take a long time to break in. For my Chilong I used weigth 3 on the pieces, to make it as stable as possible. Later on when I needed to add a bit more lube to the pieces (every couple of months or so) I have put just a tiny bit of weight 2 in an edge or two, without having to dismantle the whole cube again.

What square-1 is considered the best right now, and which one should I get? I think that the mf8 and cubetwist and the best? Correct me if I am wrong. Also explain why one is better than other, price is not a issue.

Cubetwist is cheap and somewhat mediocre
Mf8 v1 is good but hard to find
Calvin's is good but a tad nore expensive

I'd say cubetwist if you just want to get decent (though it is possible to get good times on) or Calvin's if you want to get really fast.

Mf8 v1 is just too obscure to find.

I use a Calvin's, and I personally really like it. I just can't stress enough that if you get one you should play around with the tensions (they often start out tight) and definitely lube it with Maru lube. I had a Calvin's that I thought was horrible, and after putting Maru in it, it was legitimately an awesome Square-1 under two minutes later.

this, mine was horrible out of the box, but a drop of weight 2 (or any light weight) between the layers made it awesome
