Ouch, the Fangshi's not getting much love!

OP - interesting choice of cubes for the poll - why these 3 in particular??

I voted Weilong, because it doesn't need modding to be awesome. I have a Zhanchi I love, but it needed modding to be as great as it is. My Weilongs are great, were great out of the box, and require so little maintenance it's unreal. In a way it's like comparing a Weisu to a modded SS 4x4 - they could both be comparably brilliant, but the cube that is awesome as-is with no tweaking required must be better, right?

Am I the only one who doesn't like it when people call the ShuangRen 'the Fangshi'?
For me, the ZhanChi pops too much, the WeiLong is uncontrollable and the ShuangRen is my main.

I bought mine with ridges and at first it felt horrible; The ridges were cast badly and the edges were sharp. I was new to megaminx to it felt odd. Later when I got a bit better and was actually able to fingertrick it I noticed that the ridges were essential for me. I recommend taking the ridges because after you get used to having them there you'll know how useful they actually are to make fast and accurate turns.

Thanks, going to get the ridges one then!

Hi guys! Relatively new cuber here, i pretty much suck. Sub 40 :/

I bought a ZhanChi yesterday and I love it. However is this the most friendly cube for someone who wants to get out of 40 and be faster or are there better cubes such as the Weilong or ShuangRen? Thanks!

-Sub-40 doesn't suck! Just because there are better times, it doesn't mean yours are bad. Look at it this way, you can solve a cube, which most people can't, and you can do it in under a minute which is a bigger achievement! Just keep moving on to the next milestone :D

-Zhanchi's perfectly fine. 3x3 isn't so much of a "which is the best" market, it's more of a "which is the best for me" market. (Credit for that statement goes to whoever said it on this thread a couple pages ago) For reference, my main is the Zhanchi and I'm sub-16. Also, WRs have been set with the Zhanchi in the past. I'd say your fine with one speedcube until you're a bit faster; then the cube might make a difference.

Weilong may be a bit uncontrollable for sub-40. I suggest Fangshi or Zhanchi. The choice is up to you. Once you hit sub 25 , you can try weilong. I'm sub 11 with pb of 5.06(pll skip and easiest oll.)

When I was at a comp,I was trying some cubes (Weilong,Gans III) and I was thinking of buying the Weilong.
Now I'm doubting, because it might be to fast. I have tried 2 weilong there and one was too fast and one was good.
I'm around 40 seconds,btw.
Can I better get the ChiLong or so? Or do you guys recommend the Weilong tough.
I liked the feel of the Weilong,so I definatly want a moyu/YJ.

I'm a sub-40 solver with a sub-30 PB. I mainly solve with Roux but I solve Friedrich sometimes when I'm at competitions. I like a generally smooth cube with a tinge of crunchiness (not scratchy). I prefer cubes that does not and cannot pop, with minimal lockups. Which cubes out of these do you guys recommend: Weilong v2, Shuangren v2, Guhong v2, Maru CX3, Shengshou Aurora, Gans 3 (latest version with round centre sticker), YJ Chilong, YJ Yulong, Moyu LiYing?
