Hello, I have a normal Rubik's brand cube with the new core and full plastic (no stickers), it locks up a lot and is hard to move. I don't know if a speedcube will help my time but if it helps on the lock-ups and the general feel of the cube, could someone link me a good one? Or recommend one

I need a new 3x3. I am a crunchy cube lover like the alpha v. I also do well on smooth cubes like the zhanchi, but I really do prefer the crunchy feeling. Out of these three cubes which one would provide me with a crunchy cube: Moyu Weilong, Maru cx3, gans 3 v2? What about the moyu weilong v2? Should I wait for that cube to get more reviews so I can judge whether I would possibly want it?

If it's crunchy you want, CX3.

I hate the traditional "screw the pieces in and hope that nothing breaks" approach that most companies take with their cores. Are there any 3x3's that don't have fragile cores and hardware? I'm getting the Gans III and my Rubik's Speed Cube is very durable and the core is not a problem at all, but I'm looking for some other options.

What cube is better?

I would like to know what cube is better for a 3x3. Dayan Guhong 2 or Dayan Zhanchi. Or are there better ones than those?

I have just two cubes, the Alpha V and Dayan Zhanchi. I think smooth cubes like Dayan are a lot "better" (for me) than crispy cubes. I want to buy one, or even two, more cubes. Should I get Moyu Weilong, Maru CX3 or Fangshi Shuang Ren?

Wrong place to post this - use the 'what cube should I get' thread. Mods will move this there, no doubt.

anyway, neither is 'better'. The Zhanchi is perhaps the faster cube, but both are capable of getting you sub-7 times, in theory.

What do you like in a cube? Some people would argue that the Moyu Weilong or Fangshi Shuang Ren are superior cubes to any Dayan cube, but some people still think the Zhanchi is the best cube around. In the end, it comes down to personal taste, so what 'feel' of cube you like should influence your decision.

If you're looking for a cube that will make you faster, then stop looking. No cube will make you faster, only practice.

ok, first sorry that i put this in the wrong spot. And second I like a cube thats is a little tensoned but is still fast. I dont like cubes that feel like you have no control over them

Don't get a Weilong then!!

Zhanchi is controllable at tighter tensions, and still cuts well and is very fast. I've heard good things about the ShengShou Aurora and the Moyu Chilong - try checking out some reviews of them on YouTube. I believe they are both very fast cubes that are still controllable.

Get DIYs. Or get some cores for yourself. I've never had core problems. Have you?

If you like smooth, between the three get the Weilong. If you don't have them already, the Shengshou Aurora and Guhong v1/v2 are all really smooth too. Weilong is more popular, Guhong is a bit older but very solid, and Aurora is less popular but also really really good.

And what about the Fengshi?

I am a beginner to cubing trying to learn F2L, but My cube is bad. It's the default rubiks brand full plastic, really stiff and locks up a lot. Any recommendations for a speedcube? Was thinkin about Dayan Zhanchi 5 Stickerless but I don't know what is good, but definitely prefer plastic over stickers. Thanks!

If you like crunchy, as do I, you will love the CX3. I absolutely HATED it at first because i was used to smooth cubes. It's now my main. I own a zhanchi, weilong v1, and a guhong v2. The welong is my second favorite, but it's smooth as butter. I truly think, if you like crunchy cubes as I now do, you will love the CX3. I would recommend it 100 times over.

This being said, I think once you get it you will need to give it some work. When I received mine, the tensions were **** poor. I took it apart, lubricated the core, tensioned it properly, put it back together and lubricated the pieces. I solved with it a few times and was unsatisfied. I tensioned it more and sanded down the corner pieces (because they were fairly sharp). After I'd say 50 solves or so, I realized somehow I was getting 2-5 second better averages than with my other cubes. 100 solves later and it's my main. Love it more than anything. THe speed is perfect, it's controllable, and the feel is amazing.

If you like smooth cubes, Weilong is the best option without a doubt. You mentioned your other two options being the CX3 and the Fangshi. I recommend the Fangshi because the CX3 is crunchy, which you said you don't like. I love that, the CX3 is my main, but for you, I'd recommend the Weilong and Fangshi. Check out this thread if you care to see how "popular" each cube is. http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/showthread.php?45488-Your-Favorite-Speedcube-(3x3)

All I have to say is that if you're going to be wanting to compete, don't bother buying a stickerless. If you don't care about competitions, then a stickerless zhanchi is a beautiful masterpiece, and a good "starter" speedcube.

So should i try and maybe turn my stickerless into sticker cube?

This has already been done by CrazybadCuber on youtube. He claims that after he dyed his stickerless black and stickered it, it felt almost exactly the same as a normal stickered cube. Might not be worth your time or effort.
