Right now the best 2x2s are Wittwo v1 (~$10) and Dayan 2x2 (~$15). I would highly suggest getting one of those. If you really don't want to spend $10 on a 2x2, get the lan lan (I think they're around $4 right now?).
It's worth the extra money to get a wittwo v1 or dayan 2x2 though. None of the cheaper 2x2s can corner cut 45 degrees and reverse at least 35 degrees.

I got my first speed cube (54.6 Shaung Ren) a few weeks ago and have been loving it. The cubes does seem to lose its shape and lock up for me a bit. I can't tell if it's me or if it's just too flimsy of a cube for me. Because I've never tried a zhanchi or guhong or any other good speed cubes I can't help but think I might be missing out on the right kind of cube for my turning style. I have some extra money on amazon and figured I'd try another speed cube, but I'd like it to be a stickerless DIY kit. Which cube do you think is more different from the Shaung Ren? I want to see how a different type of cube feels.

The only stickerless DIY cubes I know of are the Dayans because edges come in two pieces and corners in three so they can be different coloured plastic. Dayan Guhong or Dayan Zhanchi both work. The two MoYu cubes (HuanYing and WeiLong) don't come stickerless because of how the pieces are put together.

I thought that might be the case. If I remove the stickerless requirement what cubes would feel very different from a Shuang Ren?

IMO right now most of the good cubes have a combination of smooth, crispy/crunchy, super fast, controllable and/or blocky. I would classify shuangren as controllable, smooth, and slightly crunchy.
They're all pretty different but I think most different would be Weilong (super fast compared to shuangren). Then zhanchi, then guhong.

Thanks, I'll probably go with the Zhanchi just because I want a stickerless. I can't justify buying another speed cube when I already have a perfectly good one.

Help! GuHong, Zhanchi, Lingyun

Im about to get one of those three in the title. I currently have the Zhanchi but it has got slower and does not cut corners very well anymore. Which do you guys prefer? Thanks!

Did you already try cleaning our your Zhanchi, re-lubing and re-tensioning? How long have you had your Zhanchi?

After you have tried all this... if you liked your Zhanchi, get another one. If you didn't really then I recommend you try Guhong next.

In fact guys i have NEVER lubed my zhanchi, ive had it since like December of 2012, and i tryed cleaning it yesterday :(

What lube do you recommend?

Also this...

I also use 50K Traxxis Differential Oil. You can find it online in tons of places, or at your local hobby store. Way cheaper than Lubix. But after it's worked in I add a couple drops of Maru lube. Not as cheap.

A few drops of Maru all by itself will also make a Zanchi fly, but it wears off way quicker. My traxxis/maru combo usually lasts 2 or 3 weeks.

I currently have a 55m stickerless zhanchi and want to get a diy zhanchi and lube it with lubix. Do you guys think I should stick to what i'm used to with the 55 or get a 57?
