Hey people! I was thinking of getting some new minx puzzles, and the Dayan Megaminx immediately popped out at me. I know for sure I am getting that. But then, I was thinking, what about a larger minx? I looked at the Mf8 Gigaminx, but it almost looked too big and complex. (at least on screen) I took a look at the Mf8 Master Kilominx, which I guess is like a 4x4 equivalent in the minx world. It came in colored plastic which is a plus, but I was wondering what the quality would be like since it is not a widely known puzzle with a strange mechanism. Could anyone help me out with a decision between an Mf8 Gigaminx and an Mf8 Master Kilominx?

Should I get a 55mm zhanchi, or a C IV/V?
BTW I used to have a zhanchi 57mm, but some kid at school stole it, and blew it up, then tossed it in the trash, all without me knowing.
It was, great, except for the exploding, which is why I'm considering a Type C
I'm also open to other suggestions

The Type C V isn't all that great, but I haven't had any major problems with pops on it. It's really loud and crunchy though.

Lingyun is faster and crispier feeling. Neither of them really pop at all. I'd say (from personal experience) to get the zhanchi if you average over 20 seconds, the lingyun if under. The lingyun is just really fast and hard to control.

for the fII, it works well if you don't need the reverse-cutting, but will still lock more (obviously)

And my problem wasn't that my zhanchi popped for me a lot, it was maybe once every 150 solves.
but those pops (explosions, more like) always seemed to happen in places where I would be likely to lose pieces
anyway, if you kept wrenching both cubes at 45-50, which one do you think would pop first?

Does the Type F II from Shengen stand up to modern cubing standards? (I guess Dayan standards)

It's fast and it's lighter than dayan but it has less corner cutting. For me it's a no but it is a really affordable cube. Probably worth it just for that.

Probably the FII would pop first but neither pops often and certainly it doesn't explode like the zhanchi

The F2 VS Dayan

Pops F2:depends on tensions Dayan:depends on tentions on tensions

Stickers F2:colors fade fast Dayan:Good stickers

Corner cutting F2:decent Dayan:really good

reverse cutting F2:none Dayan:good

other things to know the F2 has caps on each piece that falls off easily. Hope that helps you.

Fastest Bump/Mirror Cube?

Does the type matter for speed? Also, do all have grains along the stickers as with the Shengshou?

I hear Shengshou 3x3's aren't bad. fasttech has em for $2.92 USD if you buy more than 5 at a time. http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/...shou-3x3x3-brain-training-teaser-magic-iq-cub

like uniacto said, ShengShou 3x3 (make sure to get the second version "wind"!)

The ShengShou 3x3 (first version) isn't that bad imo.

Thanks these will be perfect. My brother has a SS and right out of the box it seemed like a pretty nice cube. Not sure which version it was though..

I just got passed the 1 min barrier!! :D Out of the last twenty solves, my average is 58.3 seconds :D so I need to get a speed cube now, what would be a cube that can cut corners (I don't need 45 degree, but I want at least 30) good, doesn't lock up at every other turn (goodness gracious, my rubiks brand locks up all the time) and will last me a couple years.

I don't know many options other then the guhong v2 and zhanchi. I've heard names like shengshou and ghost hand, but I don't know much about them.

So my questions is, what is a good beginner speed cube?
