V1. I did see one page on lightake that says the Guhong is 57.4mm compared to the Zhanchi's 57mm, but other sites have it as 57mm too. I may be wrong but I just can't see the size difference.

Thanks for the answers!

Maybe I should have said that I don't plan to compete, so it doesn't matter if it's "illegal" like the stickerless. I'm just trying to get faster and I like trying out different cubes. Unfortunately I don't have the money to buy every one I want!

So we're undecided about size of the zhanchi and guhong? I looked this morning and the guhong is about the same size as a rubik's, my lunhui is a tiny bit smaller. Anybody know of anything larger than a rubik's (besides the foot cube that is ridiculously big)? I'm just really curious to see if a bigger cube would help my times.

I'm still undecided about the zhanchi vs the guhong v2. I usually buy from icubemart and they don't have the new guhong in yet anyway, so I may put off buying either one of those. I was excited to see that dayan is going to keep selling icubemart cubes with orange instead of purple though.

As for the issue with my guhong, I'll try to post it somewhere else. I didn't mean to get this thread so OT, it was just bothering me a little.

Thanks everybody!

GuHong (stickerless) on the left, ZC on the right (stickered). asportking was correct IMO:

EDIT

On the pic it looks as if the ZH is nearer to the camera than the GuHong. I can assure you that I leveled them before I took the shot. The stickers on the ZC influence "depth" perception I guess.

$10 for a lanlan 2x2 is bad... for that price you could practically get a wittwo. lanlans go for like $5 nowadays. i dont see a need for dayan 3x3 stickers either. usually, when you buy a dayan DIY they come with two sets of stickers anyway

This is what I'm planning to get at Toronto Open Winter 2012. Are the puzzles generally good choices? (Never owned any of the following puzzles: master magic, megaminx, 4x4x4 and square-1)

http://www.canadiancubing.com/Merchandise.aspx

2x2x2 Lanlan - Black $10.00 Decent cube. The Wittwo's better, but if you already have that and want to try out another cube, the LanLan's pretty good.

3x3x3 DaYan GuHong - Black $12.00 There shouldn't be any question on whether this is a good cube. Although if you have a Zhanchi or a Lingyun, and you're thinking this one is better, it's really only a little better. So if you already have a decent Dayan, I guess you could cut this one out if you really wanted to

Pyraminx QJ - Black $12.00 Pyraminxes, in general, suck. Nevertheless, out of the one's available, the QJ is one of the best. Just don't be too surprised when you find out it can't really cut corners.

canadianCUBING Hoodie - Dark Grey $35.00 Can't really say much for this, since it's not a cube, but $35 does seem a little expensive...

canadianCUBING Shirt - Black $15.00 Same as above, minus the part about the high price

DaYan 3x3x3 Stickers $2.00 Why do you want extra Dayan stickers? They're ok, but cubesmith has much better stickers. Although they're only $2, if you just want an extra set of stickers to have around, go ahead and buy them

CubeTwist Master Magic $14.00 It seems a bit expensive for a master magic (I bought mine for only $9-10), but keep in mind that almost all master magics are the same; if you can find a slightly cheaper magic, buy that instead.

Megaminx Dayan MF8 - Black $12.00 Is it a V1 or a V2? If it's the V2, get it. If it's the V1, try to get a V2 (the V1's alright, but the V2 is the same price and better).

Square-1 DaYan MF8 - Black $10.00 One of the best (and only) Square-1s available. If you want a Square-1, get it

4x4x4 DaYan MF8 - Black $16.00 I can't say I've ever tried this cube, but I've heard it's amazing. You could get the Shengshou V3 if you wanted a cheaper alternative (unless you already have it), but $16 for a Dayan 4x4 seems really cheap.
------
$138.00

Just thought I'd point out, the Megaminx and Square-1 aren't actually Dayan+MF8, they're just MF8.

I can't order too many things online yet because my mom won't allow it.

Thanks for the input though, I decided that the hoodie and shirt are a waste of money for me and decided to get these instead:
Cheaper than before with more 3x3's as well :)

2x2x2 Lanlan - Black $10.00
3x3x3 DaYan GuHong - Black $12.00
3x3x3 DaYan Lingyun - Black $12.00
Pyraminx QJ - Black $12.00
Cubesmith 3x3x3 Stickers $3.00
CubeTwist Master Magic $14.00
Megaminx Dayan MF8 - Black $12.00
Square-1 DaYan MF8 - Black $10.00
4x4x4 DaYan MF8 - Black $16.00
3x3x3 Dayan Lun Hui - White $12.00
------
$113.00

No offense, but that pyraminx and lanlan 2x2 are rip offs. Most lanlans are 4 dollars with shipping. And you can get the pyraminx from lightake for a lot cheaper with free shipping.

I'm back and need new equipment, Help?

Hey guys, so it's been a year since I last properly cubed. I'm in the market for the latest things, when I last cubed the F2 and AV were the best, is this still the case? I hear there is an F3? Any good? Also I'm in the market for the following, so tell me which are the best atm if you could :)

2x Speedcubes
1x Pyraminx (my MF8 arrived broken...)
1x Megaminx
1x V2 cube (these are good right?)
3x Other weird/good puzzles.

I hear there is a master pyraminx now, how do they work, they arent as bad as the mechanism in my gigaminx i hope lol. The other weird puzzles bit let me know what you guys think is good right now and interesting. Appreciate the help :)

Try reading this for a list of all the "good" cubes. As for the master pyraminx, yes, there is one out. It's not an official event (I don't expect it ever will be), but I hear it turns alright, especially after you lube it.

Dayan cubes are all the rage now... they have a different internal mechanism from old style cubes (more like the V-cube curved insides). The 3 best ones are the ZhanChi, GuHong, and LingYun. the ZhanChi and the Version 2's of the others have anchors inside the edges that hold onto the corners so you can have them really loose with less chance of them popping. You can also buy stickerless versions of the cubes which people seems to really like, but they aren't competition legal.

The F3 is supposed to be nothing special, and doesn't have the feel that people liked about the F2.

2x2 wise the top new cube is the WitTwo/Type-C which has amazing corner cutting, way better than the V2.
(other new cube wise, things are just getting bigger - you can get a Shengshou 8x8 and a Witeden 3x3x9)
