what cube should my friend get?
she can solve a 3x3 with the instructions i gave her (basically beginner's for first two layers, cross on yellow, OLL with sune/anti sune and PLL with A,U,Z, and H perms)
and she wants any puzzle that i get which isn't happening because im getting 7x7 and megaminx.
So far i am getting her a f2 3x3 and a lanlan 2x2. what else?

How would you go about doing that? Like drop em' an e-mail something?

Yeah. Just email Eric at [email protected] saying you want a YJ 7x7 and he will send you an invoice.

I'd recommend a pyraminx. Pretty easy to solve so it would be something nice for a beginner to have. Maybe a magic/master magic as well. As for brands, get a QJ pyraminx, Ghost Hand Magic, and LingAo Master Magic.

Hey all!
I already own some original Rubik's cubes (but they're "slow" IMHO) and maru 3x3x3 cubes. But the maru cube somehow doesn't cut the corners very good and also feels a bit slow, so I'm looking for a "faster" 3x3x3 cube. I am looking for a cube with great corner cutting abilities (45°-cuts would be great) and speed but of course it shouldn't pop and wear out that fast.
I'm considering to buy a Dayan 5 Zhanchi or a Dayan Guhong but I'm really open for any suggestions since I'm quite new to cubing.
Oh and if that helps: I solve the cube using a method a friend of mine taught me, it's similar to the fridrich f2l method but with some simplifications.

Thanks in advance! :D

You've pretty much nailed it right there, ZhanChi and GuHong are both great, there isn't much to choose between them. Whichever you buy I'm sure you'll love. (p.s. don't listen to anyone telling you to get a worse cube - for some reason a lot of people on here don't like the idea of beginners starting out with good cubes).

Thanks for your help, Godmil ;) I've ordered a ZhanChi and can't wait to test it :) [does it need to be treated with a silicone spray or some kind of lube - if yes, do you have any suggestions ? thanks again for your help :)]

greetings to Scotland
MrCube :P

Dayan cubes (maybe more than most) show a major improvement with lube. Personally I'd recommend a liquid lube (rather than a spray), such as Maru Lube, Lubix, or if there are any Hobby/RC stores near you you can buy Shock oil (~30wt) or Differential Oil (preferably around 30,000wt or 50,000wt). Maru and shock oil are really liquidy and you just pop a couple of drops between the pieces. Diff Oil and Lubix are really thick and you should only put a tiny dab on the side of one edge (check out the videos on the Lubix site for lube guides). Although if it's much easier to get something like Jig-a-loo or CHC heavy Duty, then they'll probably be fine.

So Lubix just released their new product the Lubix Ultimate WitTwo. Is it worth the extra $3? Will you be getting it?

Thanks for the info, I'll get one as soon as I can :)

Thanks again Godmil, I'll try the Maru Lube that came with my Maru cube :P Still waiting for the Zhanchi to arrive though ;)
