My friend likes the feel of her picture cube (The mech looks like a Diansheng). In particular the.. roughness of the turning. Well, not really rough, it's fast, but just feels... Bumpy?
Anyway, is a regular DianSheng the best choice? Or is there a similar-feeling cube that is better?
White plastic by the way.

My shengshou cube popped in 5 minute after receiving it. That was a month ago. It's still dissembled. The core is soo hard to assembled.

Keep at it, it gets easier after a while. First time took me hours, 2nd time maybe 40mins? Try and figure it out for yourself instead of following a tutorial, the ones I found are hard to follow. But yeah, it's a lot harder to assemble than an X-Cube for example. Didn't have any issues assembling the X-Cube...

When people keep mentioning "misalignments" on Maru 4x4, do they mean a core misalignment like with the V-Cube 6? Because if they do...am I the only one who has never had this problem once and gets confused when people complain about it?

You're not the only one, my maru is amazing too. I think it depends on the tensions of the screws, once I loosend them and the hidden layer came out of alignment very easily. I tightened them as before and I've never got a misalignment anymore.

just leave the tensions tight and break it in A LOT ;)

I'm going to switch from CFOP to Roux. I was considering if the hardware might make a difference between methods. A lot of people measure corner cutting for use with R U moves. But how about "corner" cuting with M U action moves? What cube would the best for that?

I use CFOP, but use MU for some of my PLLs and OLLs. I find MU performance is harder to get decent than RU. Thats probably because its easier to be accurate on the U turns when MU'ing and that the M turns are more subject to the friction in the cube.

Cutting after an incomplete or overshot M turn is basically a cut and a reverse cut simultaneously, so you'd prefer a cube that does both well, and usually means avoiding cubes that don't reverse cut well, like the MF8 Legend.

I think all the current good cubes are good for M U, guhong, lingyun... I prefer my F2 for M slices, but that could just be the way I have my Guhong set up that I keep overshooting on it.

Assembling a X-cube 4 is as hard as a maru 4x4x4?
By the way, anyone knows how to lessen the number of pops in a Dayan+Mf8 4x4x4? Just touching the back edge makes it fly away!

the xcube is almost as hard as the maru. once you know how to assemble the maru, the xcube shouldnt be any challenge.

to lessen the pops in the mf8, just make sure you arent turning rediculously aggressive.

I just tried some maru lube in the outer layers and they're a lot better, but still pops a lot.
I'm kind of a rough turner as I'm a really beginner at 4x4x4 (and have small hands), but I'll try to be more accurate. Thanks for the tips!

well i actually ignored all of the origional posts after some more research into the dayan and bought th maru. it just came in the mail and it is amazing!

The Dayan is a lot smoother than the Maru, BUT... it pops like hell. I think I opned the damm thing 4 times and just can't set the tensions right.
You did good buying a Maru!

My Dayan explodes all the time. I love the feeling of the inner layers as I properly lube the core, but it pops like hell! More than 3 pieces fly every time! And it's in almost every solve!
I think you might need to work on your turning accuracy if this really is the case.

I'm happy for you.

read the post again, those are what he has. You've got pretty much all the good 3x3s, pick up a nice big cube or maybe a square 1 or pyraminx or something. Maybe a V5 or something. Wait for the new Dayan Zhanchi
