So, I just ordered a Stickerless Dayan Guhong + Dayan GuHong(Black) from CubeDepot.com, when can I expect my order to arrive? :O

Edit: Also, I accidently ordered a white Assembled Dayan Guhong, I emailed [email protected] requesting a change, do they normally allow these requests?

what are the best brands for these puzzles?
-Megaminx
-pyraminx
-clock
-magic
-master magic
-square-1

I like the MF8 v2 Stickered Megaminx. Some people like the tiled, but I think it's ugly :P
The QJ Pyraminx is the best IMO. Needs a ton of Maru Lube though!
The Cubetwist Clock is the only one available. you will need to break it open and lube it.
The Cubetwist magic has a better feel (for some reason) but the Lingao comes with 2 extra strings. Get either.
I think the Cubetwist Master Magic would be better. But don't take my word for it. I have never used one.
MF8 Square 1all the way. (Cubetwist has Alot of pops)

Hey,

Im a new cuber, just started a week ago. Right now I have a very old Rubiks Cube and a probably faked cube. The problem is that neither of them is good, they cant cut corners and lock up very fast.
So Im looking for a new cube, I would mainly like a cube for beginners, that means not too expensive but not to crappy too. Right now Im thinking about http://www.lightake.com/detail.do/sku.3x3x3_DaYan_GuHong_Magic_Cube_Porcelain_White-31105. Is this a good choice ? Id mainly pick it because of the low shipping (= no shipping costs). Are there any other cubes you would suggest ? As a price range I would think at a maximum of 15€ (I live in Germany) including shipping.
Thanks for your help :)

Ok =)
Do I need any more lubricate or so ? Or is the cube perfect as it is ?

€dit: Ah I see. Thank you very much :)

I have a Guhong and Haiyan's Memory. I'm looking for a cube just to "have fun": the best feeling cube.
Cubes that people say are fun to solve is the FII and the Ghost Hand 2. I also tested a Cube4you DIY and liked it, but, which one would be best?
I'm looking for a cube that have a different feel.

You should get the Guhong in black, though. The white ones are nice, but for a beginner, you really need to make sure you are seeing the color right. Sometimes it is easy to lose yellow and white in the brightness of the cube.

Does anybody care to differ on any of these? If not I guess I should buy these

I would say that I really like the originals rubik's cube as with proper lubrication, you would be able to cube fast. You could also try loosing some of the screws but not too much as it would affect the alignment and would not fit perfectly. I also got another cube, a white one, from a local store and it was pretty smooth and cubes faster even without lube compared to the rubik's.

i guess i agree with all the items theace reccomended. i personally prefer the mefferts megaminx. also i prefer the mf8v2 sq-1 over the v1, but i am just saying this because i have not heard much on this puzzle. i am not very fast at the sq-1. but the fundamentals of the puzzle are more solid. the v1 is crazy uncontrollable imho.

edit: it seems theace reccomended the v2 sq1, so the only thing i differ in opinion on is the megaminx. the mf8v2 is solid for the money, i just prefer the mefferts.

Hello! ^o^

I was too lazy to read through all the pages, I'm sure this question has been asked many, many times.

What is the best 3x3 cube I should get?
The only 3x3 I've ever used is a factory-made one that turn horribly. I would like one that can at least do fingertricks and cut corners well.

As long as price is less than $8, I'm okay with it. ^o^ Thanks.

The only cubes I know of that are under $8 are Mini Type C, Ghost Hand II, Diansheng, Mini Diansheng, Ghost Hand 2003A, Ghost Hand I, and Shengshou. But they're above $8 after shipping is calculated.

Just get a GuHong and some lube. I would suggest lubix, because it works amazing with GuHongs, but it's very expensive, especially when you don't have a lot of cubes to use it on. Get Maru lube with it. It will dry out fast, but it's chapr than lubix.

lightake.com has free shipping so get it there. get a ghosthand because $8 is nothing. you need something like $10 or $12

If this is so, than what cubes would you suggest for speedcubing (not DIY preferably), not taking money into account?
I've heard that the Type A VI is good, and that Type Cs are also pretty good.

Eh, not really Type Cs.

AV, DaYan GuHong, DaYan LingYun, FII, I've also heard Haiyan's Haiyan (although expensive). oh and Mf8 legend, although that might be too fast for you, as a lot of people claim it to be way too fast. I liked it, however.

The former is the Alpha 5 Feng (AV-f), the later is the Alpha Five (AV). The -f means the sealed version (feng in Chinese). They are both both the 5th version in the two Alpha series of cubes, being sealed and unsealed, but are otherwise unrelated.

You can see how the edge cubies are slotted on the inside in the AV, where as they are mostly sealed internally on the AV-f. The AV-f has ridges/tracks on the outside of the edge cubies, supposedly to reduce friction. The corner cubies on the AV are angled where they are curved on the AV-f. The centre cubies on the AV-f are lighter and almost cage like.

The AV is older than the AV-f but consensus is that the AV is a better cube, and even more so with the (Haiyan memory mod) which rounds the corner cubies.
