I want to order a few cubes for multiblind. For 3BLD I use a Thunderclap and it suits me well. I think it can be good to have only the same type of cube for mbld. I own a SuLong so I know that GuanLong / SuLong / anything performing worse won't be good enough.
Should I just order some Thunderclaps or is there a good alternative?

I would go with the Thunderclaps if you don't like other options such as Chilong/Yulong/Sulong. For me those are more than good enough. In fact, the Chilong has been one of my long time mains until very recently.

Okay, cheapest modern 3x3 that is available in stickerless?

Not 100% sure about cheapest, depends on varying prices so a search on several stores would be needed. But I'd say in order from cheaper to more expensive: Guanlong (yeah, only in candy colours), Qiyi Warrior, Cyclone Boys Feiwu, Shengshou Rainbow, Yuxin Fire, Cyclone Boys XuanFeng, Kungfu QingHong can all be found for less than $3 each. Not that any of them is any good, though, compared with a Thunderclap v1 for less than $5 :)

Btw I agree the ChiLong is quite good, but it's not comparable to a SuLong (I have a suspicion that the designers of the SuLong strived at developing a cube with the least possible corner cutting as a challenge..).

I have a Sulong that I still use from time to time and I get more or less the same times on average than with other newer cubes. Well lubed and tensioned is not that bad, imho. Yeah, reverse corner cutting is not great but it's so stable that it compensates a bit for that.

I agree it's very stable and I gladly use my SuLong for dangerous outside activities (like skiing while cubing). I don't really know how to lube and set up cubes properly which might be the reason I have such a bad impression on it performance in normal circumstances.

Anyway, I ordered 8 Thunderclaps now. :D

hmm ok... Do you know much about the yuxin blue?

My old main was the CB 4x4 and I can safely say that the Yuxin is better WITH the spring swap (thunderclap or Maru soft springs). My reasoning is that the CB although it has my favorite feel, it's more difficult to do the edge pairing and 3x3 stage compared to the Yuxin. That's because the Yuxin has slightly larger outer edges, and boy does it make ur solve smoother. Corners are slightly more rounded so less lockups due to slightly better reverse. Believe me I wish the CB was still my main, cuz I love the feel. But the Yuxin performs better. Hope this helps!

P.S. Yuxin feels scratchy smooth, like a yuexiao or the Yuxin 5x5

I want a cube which satisfies the following conditions:
  • It should be smooth. Not necessarily 'fast', but smooth; that is, it should have smooth turning.
  • It should have good enough corner cutting
  • It shouldn't pop easily.
  • It shouldn't lock up too often.
  • It should be available within or around $10 (USD).
I've been keeping an eye on the QiYi Thunderclap for a while now, and it seems to suit me well. I've been told that the Gans 356 air is a good choice too. Can anyone please help me decide?

When I first got my thunderclap it was amazing. But now it feels very stiff and difficult to turn. I am thinking of getting a new cube. I average 25-27s with another cube but It's not really that good. I would like a cube which is less than $14. I want it to be easy to turn and perform good. Which cube would you recommend?

I you haven't already, try cleaning your cube first and lubing it. Your cube is probably just gummy because the lube inside dried up. The Thunderclap should already be a very good cube.

What weights should I use? I have never lubed a cube before.

I am wondering which cubes are good for one hand?

I am looking for a OH cube (I'm about sub 35 to sub 30 on OH) would mini Weilong be better or a Valk 3?

Definitely get the QiYi thunderclap, but out of the box it's scratchy moreso than silky smooth. You need to know how to set up the cube to get it smoother (i did 50k on core, 50k + 30k + Silk on pieces and tracks). The thunderclap has been my main forever now.

Hi, TheChaiCuber! Thanks for the advice. I'll try to get my hands on the thunderclap as soon as possible.

By the way, do you know any other good cubes which are available for the same price as the thunderclap and are comparable to the thunderclap in terms of smoothness, corner cutting and resistance to pops or lock ups? Basically, what I'm looking for is a list of a few cubes which are as good as the thunderclap and are available for approximately the same price.

Well, ATM the only cube in the same price range as the thunderclap that I have is the V2, and I think it really sucks. If I had to recommend another cube regardless of price I'd get my hands on a valk3. I tried one at a comp and it was pretty sweet.

Edit: I don't have this cube, but I heard the SS fangyuan is really nice for the price. However it's a lil catchy I think. Also, don't bother considering the gans air, at least for me it locks up all the dang time. It infuriates me cuz I will watch first impressions and reviews and they say "not locking up" when during turns they are locking and catching. Sorry for the lil rant haha

My (soon-to-be) two year-old is fascinated by speed cubing and I'd like to buy him a cube for his birthday. I have searched this site and it seems that toddler cubing hasn't really caught on (yet!).

I don't know much about cubing, but I have been told that Rubik's isn't a great choice. So I'd appreciate some advice on what I should get for him. Features I'm looking for:

1. Durability (to withstand accidental and intentional dropping/throwing/etc.)
2. Washability (not necessarily submersible, but material that won't be damaged by a wet cloth--i.e., no stickers)
3. Something that isn't so loose that it will be hard for him to line up as he develops fine motor skills
4. Something he won't outgrow in the next 5 years

Is there anything else I should consider?

Well if he learns quickly enough, maybe he could break this record!

OK, then. It seems the thunderclap is the best for me.

It requires work, time and effort to set up the thunderclap if u don't like the feel out of the box. Make sure you do a few hundred solves out of the box and then set it up, it does help quite a bit. Don't be discouraged easily (the cube tends to do that to some people) and GL! Hope u enjoy the thunderclap as much as I do :)
