I need a 2x2. I'm just now getting into speedsolving, so I don't want anything too fast or uncontrollable. I like smooth but snappy cubes, and I have a very forceful turning style.

The best 2x2 out there is still the Dayan Zhanchi 2x2 50mm. It's not too fast and it's smooth but I'm not sure it qualifies as snappy. It will also need some breaking in and careful tension set up or else it pops frequently, but since I broke it in, lubed and tensioned it has not popped at all, not even once. If snappy is really a must I would not know what to recommend, as I don't like any other 2x2s that I have tried myself. Dont' even think about TangPo or Yuxin 2x2 as they are both too fast. LingPo (probably YuPo and TangPo too) and Cyclone Boys can have some internal catching issues depending on your turning style (it happens to me) so it's a bit of a gamble to try those. Not sure about the Fangshis, never tried them. Another old cube that maybe you would like is the Wittwo type c but it also requires some set up and it is a bit noisy.

Sorry to bump this but nobody answered and I don't know if it was because nobody has anything to say or because I added this by editing a prior post of mine and everybody had already read the original post and, hence, nobody actually read the edited part :)

Well, it will certianly would help you 5x5 times to do even bigger. I'm sure the cubes you suggested would be just fine as I know of a few very good cubers using them.

Thanks! I will think about it and if in a couple of months I improve a little at 5x5 and there are no rumors of new big cubes I will probably try the Shengshou's. Do 6x6 and 7x7 need new parity algs with respect to 4x4 and 5x5?

New to cubing! Should I go with 4x4 or 5x5 after 3x3?

I started cubing about a month ago and I can't put down my 3x3s. I am about to order the Guoguan but I would also like to get either a 4x4 or 5x5 and wondering which to go with. For 3x3 I am not fast at all. My PB is 45 seconds and while I definitely want to continue getting fast I would also like to learn something new. I started with CFOP and over the past few days I've also learned ZZ and Roux so I'd say I enjoy learning new things more than just practicing one method non stop. I haven't looked to much into solving bigger puzzles yet but I have seen people mention once you get the centers they are pretty similar to a 3x3.

My question is... is the 4x4 very similar to a 3x3 and should I go right to the 5x5? Which one is less like the 3x3 in terms of how you solve it?

Thanks!!

Big cube aren't at all similar to the 3x3, it's just that the last step is the 3x3 stage, where you solve a 3x3, but the steps before (reduction) have nothing to do with 3x3. You should definitely learn 4x4 first. Once you do 5x5 will be extremely easy to learn (it's basically the same as 4x4, just bigger).

Hi guys.
I wanna know is dayan 2 guhong better than yj sulong?
I already have a guhong but I want to know if buying sulong would be considered an "upgrade" at all.
btw I have this guhong for about 5 years. so Its an old cube and it became loose these days.

I never actually liked the guhong, so I'd say that the sulong is better. But you can buy even better cubes for a few more dollars.

Unfortunately, that few dollars escalate much faster here. like, 10 dollars would be 1/50 of a month's salary.

If that's the case, cheap cubes that are more than decent would be YJ Chilong / Yulong, YJ Sulong, YJ Guanlong (in order of preference for me). In fact I have half the new cubes out there (including Hualong, Tanglong...) and I still use my old YJ Chilong as my 2H main.

im 25 seconds and im looking for a cube to help me break the 20 barrier since my yj yulong is soooo slow my brother has a meiying during an average of 100 i got a pb of 16.78 and average 18.45 but he wont let me use it im deciding between the aolong gt and guoguan yuexiao which do you think i should get

I see... So, you should go for chilong or sulong. They are both pretty good cubes and I've used both as my main, in the past. I do not agree exactly with mafergut, the sulong is better than the yulong for me.

I think just changing your cube will not help that much... But if you like the meiying, why not buy a meiying?

Yeah, it's a matter of personal preference. I prefer a somewhat blockier cube that flexes as little as possible and the Sulong flexes a bit too much for my taste but I know other people that prefer the Sulong over the Chilong as well. So, whatever suits your style.

I agree that a better cube (unless we are talking about a Rubik's or similar, but we are talking about a Yulong here) is NOT gonna get you from 25 sec average to 18 sec. But I fully agree that if you liked the Meying... why not stick to that?

I got it today and its HEAVENLY compared to my original rubik's brand 2.0 :p. And it corner cuts very well too, more than 45 degrees.

Same bro. Let's Be friends as i also did the same thing !!! Had Rubik's Cube 2.0(The new one) and just 2 weeks ago got my Stickerless Dayan 5 Zhanchi. The things is Zhanchi is so fast and so good in corner cutting ... After doing with the Zhanchi I don't EVEN USE THE RUBIK'S CUBE !! The performance of Zhanchi is phenomenal and i very much like it... :)

Just the Difference in both of us is that You got it from Amazon and I got it From Flipkart and that I don't know if you have a stickerless one , the black schemed one or the white schemed with stickers :p.

I was just scrolling through the posts when I saw you replied to my post from a little while back. Anyway, how much did you get it for?
I have the white based stickered one.:)
