I still dk which to get... Moyu lingpo seems good but my friend says he has it and it isnt as good as the dayan as it keeps locking. The dayan has to be set up to be good, but im not excatly the expert at setting cubes up, so im afraid i'll do it wrong and it will be like crap. Besides, my turning is kinda rough)(my tanglong popped on slightly tight tensions) so the dayan would most definitely pop every 3 solves or so.
Urghh can someone tell me their experience with both cubes? Dont tell me to get which cube just because everybody uses it. I just want to know how the 2 compares based on your experience with both cubes.

Even though the LingPo is my main, I would recommend starting with the DaYan. If the DaYan doesn't work out, you can try other cubes.

I'd say get the lingpo. Getting a new Dayan is high-risk and you probably don't need the little bit better that a good Dayan would be if you were lucky.

I have 3 LingPos and 2 DaYans. Nothing has made the DaYans usable. The DaYans corner cut well but I am constantly undershooting with them so they'll catch and fly out of my hands.

All the LingPos are very fast and crispy and when they get uncontrollable, I add a drop of 50K and their speed is perfect again. The only annoyance is that there's some internal catching when corner cutting but they corner cut well enough and the catching diminishes with time.

They're both good cubes but neither is perfect. I wish I could breed the two to make a crispy, fast cube with perfect corner cutting and no catching. Maybe someday somebody will make one but in the meantime, I'll keep using the LingPo.

damn dude thats a lot of lingpos. But yeah the internal catching doesnt really bother me when solving. And yes, there still is no perfect 2x2 sadly.

I still strongly believe that the Dayan is the best 2x2. It isn't hard to set up; all you have to do is break it in, load a ton of thick lube on the internals, tension it then break in the lube. From my experience, the more solves you do, the better it becomes.

I fully agree that the main issue with the LingPo is the internal catching, otherwise it would be a great 2x2. And it's true that the Dayan does not have this catching problem but either I was unlucky to get one of the new, bad plastic, whatever samples or it just needs a ton of breaking in. I assume I will know in a year or two :)

So, I'm looking for a 3x3. I have never solved a rubik's cube before.
I have done a little bit of a research and I found two cubes that I think would suit beginner cubers:
The YJ Yulong and the Dayan Zhanchi.
I would be happy for a suggestion on whether I should buy one of these or a different one, and if so which one.
By the way, I would be happy if you could send me a couple of good places to buy these puzzles where the international shipping wouldn't take too long and wouldn't be too high-priced, as I'm living outside of the US.
Also, make sure that lubing or tensioning is not crucial, as I don't want to ruin my cube.
Thanks, Jello.

For 3x3 there are quite a few options to consider. There's really no reason to get a "beginner" speedcube, as it only means you'll have to buy another one eventually. Which cube you should get first is more based on price range than experience.

$3-$5: YJ Guanlong, Yuxin Fire, Qiyi Sail 3x3

$8-$10: Yuxin 3x3, Qiyi Thunderclap or Bullfight

$12-$15: Aolong v2, Hualong, Tanglong, Meiying

$20+: Gans 356, Cubicle Premium cubes

Most puzzle shops are based in either the US or China.

US stores are more expensive but have better customer service: Thecubicle.us, Cubes4Speed, SpeedCubeShop

Chinese stores are cheaper, but customer service isn't as good: Cubezz, Lightake

Thecubicle.us is probably the most popular because they have excellent customer service and sell their own stickers, lubricants, and premium cubes.

Thanks for the advice, but I have one more question -
The reason I wanted to get a "beginner" cube is because I heard that some cubes like the aolong may be too fast or uncontrollable for more beginner cubers. Is it still an option? Because if so, I might be buying the aolong or even a premium cubicle aolong.

To be honest I think speed comes down to personal preference (of course you don't have a personal preference yet). I think any of those standard Moyu cubes are good, also for beginners.

Furthermore, I heard the AoLong is not among the fast side of the modern cubes (but I never tried an AoLong).

Aolong is middle of the road in terms of speed, not too fast, not too slow. It stays very controllable at tighter tensions.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll go with a premium cubicle one. Should I go with the Aolong, the Hualong or the Weilong? Or maybe the MeiYing or the Yuxin? Any suggestions?
Sorry for asking so many questions, I just wanna start with the best cube for me.
I think I'm gonna build myself my own sticker scheme, it sounds like a good idea as It's already available in the cubicle premium service.

Also, should I give them any special lubing instructions?

So what cube should i use now since dayan isnt so great anymore

I got one about a month ago and its great. My times dropped by 0.1 the moment I picked it up. that may not seem significant, but 2.3 to 2.2 is a huge difference just from getting a good cube.

What's the best cube I should get? I have a fangshi right now, but it keeps catching during my solves, and algs don't flow smooth on the cube. I need something about the same speed as the shuang ren, that is stable and has great corner cutting to keep catches to a minimum. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't have a fangshi or shuang ren. All these cubes are great: hualong, aolong v2, meiying, thunderclap. But each feels different (hualong/aolong feels rather similar, depending on the tension).

I prefer a loose cube (ala Gans 357) but one that is controllable. Gans 356 (after center cap mod) catches a bit but is sufficiently fast, pop-corner twist proof. My biggest surprise is the thunderclap - At 56mm, it feels like an Aolong but much looser, faster and smoother. Stable, does not flex during turning; cuts corner with the best of them, and doesn't catch (ala the 356). The downside is setting it up: it is a pain to remove the center cap. Tensioning is therefore a bit difficult but does reward the patient cuber. I prefer it over the 356. Haven't had a pop or corner twist. And cheap too...

You dont need to get a beginner cube just cause youre a beginner. I would say just gef a moyu aolong since it is more controllable and stable, or you can get the tanglong as it is both stable and quite fast, but dont get the tanglong if you prefer to be able to control your cube more than being fast.
The yulong is a great cube too but based on my experience after playing with it for a while you need to lube it or it will become sluggish.
The zhanchi is a great cube too but pops quite often, so i wouldnt recommend it as there is far better cubes now.
Personally i like the meiying as it is both fast and controllable to me. If you would like a fast yet contrallable cube, get the cong's design meiying. It doesnt really pop unless you put it on super loose tensions, and both the reverse and normal corner cutting is just magnificent. The only bad thing about this cube is that once youve tried this cube you can never ever go back to the moyu aolong again. At least for me.
Overall i think you should try the moyu tanglong if you would like a stable and fast cube, or a cong's design meiying. I would recommend you to get both to try it out and see which one fits you best, but if you're on a budget and can only get one, then get the tanglong. These cubes does not really need lube but may need some tensioning depending on what you want. Tighter tensions for slower but more controllable, looser tensions for faster, better corner cutting. Just play around with the tensions and find the tension you like.
For a store, i would recommend speedcubeshop.com as they have reduced international shipping price about $7+ for me while thecubicle.us is $11+, and discounts. Check the discounts section for discount codes. You can get 20% off your order if you type in the code 'speedcubes'. This is temporary so buy asap.

The moment i turned a hualong/meiying, i couldnt go back to the aolong anymore. The aolong is just too slow for me. Even though alot of people said it was fast.
