issues with current cube(s)

Hi all,

This is my first post on this forum so I don't know exactly which forum is suited for my question, so I've come here to the general speed cubing help to ask everyone something.

I'm a 20sec solver on the 3x3x3 and I know the next major step is upping my F2L game. Right now on my moyu hualong it takes me about 13-14sec to finish F2L, on a good F2L (good, not skipped pairs) around 9-10sec. My LL takes 6-7 seconds average, and it's more my recognition than TPS I believe. I always have a pause that feels at least like a second. (my longest PLLs take 2 sec, A-perms fastest at 1sec).

So here's my problem: my hualong is WAYYYYYYY too fast for my lookahead skills (F2L) right now. I never bought lube, instead using the lube that came with my friend's Gans 356 so I'm assuming it's supposed to slow down my cube, but honestly it's not enough. I try to turn the cube slower but what that does is that it makes me think about me turning the cube, instead of just solving the cube within the flow.

Should I buy some cubicle silicone lubricant to accommodate this? I hear it's great and I believe it's probably better than the stock Gans 356 lube. If so, which weight should I buy and is one weight enough? I know that heavier lube is for core and pieces are suited for lighter weights. So if this hualong were your cube, and it was way too fast for you, how would you set it up? thats basically my question. At the same time, I don't want to have so much lube in it to where it gums up the cube. So if lube isn't a good answer for this, I have another option I've considered that I wanted to ask:

What 3x3x3 should I buy if my hualong is simply too fast? Watching videos and other people's opinions I feel like even after lubing it it'll be crazy fast. I also have a weilong V1 (first speed cube) but the problem with that cube is that it's way too gummy (yes, without lube), blocky and slow for my taste. I know that many people said the weilong V1 was crazy fast and that people had to lube it down, but that was when Zhanchis were all the talk and I could see that. Now for me it's an extremely uncomfortable cube.

I've felt my friend's gans 356, and its way too uncontrollable because it moves around too much. a slight pressure on a face will cause the face to turn and distort the cube. At the same time I feel like the gans 356 has a slightly slower speed than the hualong which I feel is perfect. I'm definitely not going for a gans 356, but what cubes do you guys recommend that doesn't distort like the 356, have the speed (or slightly slower) of the 356, faster than the weilong. I'm ok with a cube that will occasionally pop, just so as long as it won't happen every 50 solves or something (my hualong pops lol). Corner twists are definitely important, because if a cube is vulnerable to a twist, it'll happen soo often (happened with my weilong as I picked up speed). I am willing to pay the price of a good cube (14-16$) if lube won't satisfy my tastes. Don't be afraid to mention the tanglong just cause its new and its price tag, I'm open to anything under 20$ lol (bye forever fans 356).

I really want to push my F2L average to 9sec, and I've been able to do that before when my lookahead is on point, but most of the time it's not. Thanks guys in advance for your responses

Yeah Aolong v2 for the win!!!! But some people say the aolong v2 is 'too slow' (i dont think so) you can also try the qiyi thunderclap. It's fast and stable. Also for the lube, if your cube is too fast, use a thicker more viscous weight like 4 or 5.

Moyu Hualong vs Moyu Tanglong vs Moyu Aolong

Hi! I am new to this community. This is my first post.

I want to buy a new cube. Which one should I get- Moyu Tanglong, Moyu Hualong or Moyu Aolong v2. I prefer Moyu cubes over others so I am looking for one of these 3.
Criteria- Speed
Good corner cutting
Few corner twists and pops/ lockups

Which one would you suggest?

Why would you limit yourself to one company's cubes?

The Yuxin is much much better (obvs only with Maru soft springs)

Kinda like comparing a guanlong to an aolong

I used the YuXin as my main for several months and I grew to despise it. Something about the way the internal pieces catch when cutting corners is infuriating. I have 3 of them and they all exhibited that symptom and got worse over time. No amount of tinkering with the tensions or lubing ever fixed it. It's odd because out of the box I was thrilled with it. I haven't tried it with Maru soft springs but I have no desire to mod my puzzles beyond lubing and tensioning.

The G4 is bad out of the box. I mean, really, really bad. After a few minutes the potential begins to show but it really doesn't start to get good for a few weeks. Now that I've been using it as my main for over a month, I'm really glad I gave it a chance. It doesn't cut as much as the YuXin and it doesn't have that buttery, silky feeling, but it cuts well enough and is more stable overall. The outer layers of the CB are super fast and crispy. The inner layers are definitely slower but that doesn't bother me at all as it makes the cube more controllable during the 3x3 stage.
