but you say you have all the popular cubes, and choose sulong as your main. may i know your avg? hows that feel after broken that cube in? is that ever pop? whats the pros and cons with your sulong? thanks for ur reply :)

My average is around 30 seconds and I regularly get in the low 20s. Once a SuLong is broken in, lubed and tensioned, it is very fast, very stable and I have never had a pop or corner twist.

My biggest problem with other cubes is inadvertent slices when I don't grip right. For some reason, that's never a problem with the SuLong but happens often on other cubes, especially the ShuangRen v2.

My second favorite cube is the WeiLong but it's a little bit too heavy. The SuLong is lighter and I can snap the turns faster with it.

My point is that there's no right or wrong in picking a favorite cube. I just thought it was silly to say you love the feel of a cube but are concerned about what others have said. If you like it, use it and if you want to change your mind, change your mind.

I do have the YuLong. I just pulled it out of the closet to refresh my memory and it's actually better than I remembered. It's stable and cuts corners better than the SuLong. It's probably halfway between the WeiLong and the SuLong in terms of feel, weight, corner cutting, etc. Very good cube for the money.

Curious! I buy almost every new cube out there (well, lately I have stopped, I cannot buy ALL of them) and I remember I did not buy a Yulong because I read that it was just a modification over the Chilong (which I already had and is one of my favourites) to be able to make stickerless variants of it so, I understood from that different way to assemble the pieces that form the edges and corners but same cube overall.

Not sure if this is accurate, though.

Anyway, either with the Sulong or Chilong (or Yulong) you are not going wrong.

Funny. The ChiLong felt a little more catchy than the YuLong to me. It's all so subjective...

Which 2x2 cube should I choose?

I want to buy a 2x2 cube for speedcubing, what should I choose?
1. Dayan 2x2
2. Fangshi shishuang
3. Fangshi XingYu
4. MoYu Lingpo
5. Other 2x2
thanks all!!

I haven't tried the ShiShuang, but I've tried the other three, and the XingYu was my favourite. Very fast, doesn't cut 45 degrees but that's not important, corner cuts are easy to do, and it doesn't really lock up.

It might well be that, even if the pieces have the same shape, but the cuts between the plastic parts that make each piece are in different places (to allow for stickerless variants) the feeling could be different. Also, I have a Chilong that has been used a lot by me and also gave one as a gift to a friend of my son. The other day I tried that other Chilong of him, which is basically in out of the box state (almost unused) and it felt very different to mine, less catchy and overall better. Anybody knows if after some thousands of solves the cube should be replaced for a new one? Mine definitely shows signs of wear in the pieces, because of friction but I thought it could last much longer, now I don't really know.

Should I get the Fangshi XingYu 2x2, dayan 2x2, or the Moyu LingPo 2x2? I have the ShiShuang and it has lockups way to much.

I'm new to speedcubing (couple of months, casual) avarage the 3x3 around 55sec. with a Rubiks speedcube. The Rubik's speedcube tend to lock up alot when solving and i don't like the feel of it that much, scratchy.

I've also got an Dayan Zanchi 2x2 and a Moyu Aosu 4x4, and i like the feel of the Dayan Zanchi 2x2 alot.
I'm not sure what's a good choice for a new 3x3 cube. Because I like the Zanchi 2x2 feel i think about buying the Zanchi 3x3 but the Weilong/Aolong seems more populair nowadays (correct me if im wrong). I don't care about the pricing, i want to buy 1 good cube and grow with it instead of upgrade and upgrade, thats why i bought the Moyu Aosu.

Any advice? Thanks in advance!!

If you just try one, even if it is one of the best 3x3s out there, it is possible that it is not the best one for you. It's not like 4x4 where Aosu is so much better, there are very different 3x3s and depending on your style and preferences you should go with one or another.

If price's not an issue you should consider perhaps purchasing at least 2 or 3 and see what you like best. Also feeling of 2x2s and 3x3s is different and the mechanism has little in common so the fact that you love your dayan 2x2 does not mean your are gonna like a zhanchi.

From personal experience I'd say:
- Get one of Zhanchi, Chilong, Weilong or similar (Yulong, Liying...)
- Get an Aolong, just because almost everybody has one, even though I don't like it much but you might love it.
- Get the new main of Feliks, the Gans 357 or the new Yuxin, just to try something different.
But just from the 1st list there are may subtle differences, and I have forgotten about the Shengshour Aurora, or the Fangshi ShuanRen... So difficult to choose just one.

If you really have to choose just one then:
- If you like it rounded, get an Aolong
- If you want it more square, get a Weilong, Chilong / Yulong or Liying / Yueying

What would be considered the most popular/widely used 3x3 right now? Does that go to the AoLong v2 hands down?

Probably but there are so many good cubes out there right now that this is hardly relevant. I't not like 80-90% people uses it as main so, if you want to use this information for chosing your new main, not that relevant.
