What Cube Do I Use?

So im a begginer speed cuber. PB is 39.02 with LBL Im learning f2l slowly, ive got 6/42 cases. The reason I got into cubing is because I got challenged and solved it on my rubiks brand. I got 6 mins because it was really bad so did reasearch and apparently the "best" cube is the Congs MeiYing so i bought it. And then my friend gave me a bad aolong v2. Some of the parts had changed shape and it was slow, but faster then rubiks brand. I did alot of sanding and :p it a tiny bit, will probaly do more. But I know prefer the aolong feel to the MeiYing, even though I am faster on the meiying at executing stuffs. Which cube do you think I should use? Thanks if you help!

If you don't want to spend too much the Thunderclap is pretty good though the Gans 356(s) (or even 357), Tanglong and Aolong GT are good options for higher prices.

If you can I would recommend getting a few and seeing which one you like.

I would still keep some of the older cubes that you have as it can force you to turn slower and be more efficient.

Sorry if this isn't the right thread but I think you are better off learning intuitive f2l from badmephisto YouTube vids or something.

Ok. Back on topic. What are the top 4x4s on the market now? Still the Aosu? Do you think the meiyu will be any good?

i really like the design of the inner pieces. it doesnt look so prone to popping.

Hi, I'm a beginer that solves at about 1 min 50 secs and my best time is 1 min 30 secs. Im looking for a good cube that doesn't need much force to turn, smoothness, some corner cutting (doesn't matter but would like). Is there any cube that could cover this under 15$? Thx!

The thunderclap would be a good cube for you!

Sorry for double posting but my last post is from 1 day ago and if now I just edit that to discuss an entirely different thing probably nobody will notice so I think the double post is justified.

I have a Shengshou pyra from like 2 years ago. Basically because I never cared about pyra... until now. As I don't progress much at 3x3 anymore I'm trying to expand my incompetence to other puzzles as well :p. So, the question is simple: Moyu or Qiyi (Pyraminx)?

Also I'm starting to practise skewb as well but here luckily I already had a Moyu, but the question is the same, in this case, Moyu or Qiyi and, is it worth it to get the Qiyi given that I already have the Moyu?

I don't plan on getting WR times or anything in any of these 2 puzzles but I like puzzles that feel good and I can affort it but if the difference is not much then I can just stay with the Shengshoug pyra and Moyu skewb. I assume that in the 1st case you will recommend an upgrade from SS and I wanna hear which pyra you prefer (you can also say Dayan :)). In the 2nd case I'm expecting you to tell me I'm just fine with the Moyu skewb but willing to hear your thoughts / comparisons with Qiyi.

Thanks!

EDIT: For SQ-1, which I also plan on getting into, I'm already waiting for my QiYi to arrive, counting the days... This I dare say nobody will disagree that the choice is wise :)

For pyra, Moyu is a little more stable, and Qiyi is more flexy. I prefer the Qiyi becuase I find the reverse cutting on the Moyu a little lacking. Moyu is probably a safer bet though.

As for skewb, I think most people who have both (including me) prefer the Qiyi, but it's not much of an upgrade. If you have the money, get the Qiyi, but the Moyu won't hold you back otherwise.

Hey guys,
I'm looking to buy some new speedcubes to replace my mains.
For 2x2: I average around 6 seconds, I think my cube is holding me back (currently use Wittwo v1) Dayan or Tangpo? Or other options?
3x3: I might get a new one, I can't decide if my Hualong is good enough, I average 19-20 seconds (either Gans 356 v2 or GuoGuan YueXiao, or some other one that's good)
5x5: Does anyone know the price of the BoChuang? it's either that or the YuXin (I use shengshou, around 3:10-3:20)
7x7: I don't have one yet, would a mini ShengShou be better for starting than a cubic Aofu? Cuz if I get a 50$ 7x7 but end up not liking it, that's 50$ gone to waste.
Thanks in advance!

Whatever you decide, don't get the TangPo, get the YJ YuPo instead. They're almost literally the exact same cube (most of the pieces use the same mold), except sold for twice the price. I'd even argue the YuPo is slightly better, and is my main. The only reason to get a TangPo over the YuPo is if you want it in one of those funky colours. I know I bring this up a lot, but the TangPo really was a scam in my eyes, and I won't shut up about it!
And yeah, the DaYan is great too, and most people still use it as their main. I'd say get both (DaYan and YuPo) and decide based on your personal preference.

Yeah your HuaLong is good enough. But of the cubes you mentioned, while I've tried neither yet, I've heard the YueXiao is better. I have the 356 v1, and it's great + my backup main, so I assume the v2 will be great too. Another cube worth considering would be the TangLong, my current main.

5x5: Does anyone know the price of the BoChuang? it's either that or the YuXin (I use shengshou, around 3:10-3:20)
Just get the YuXin. it's pretty universally considered to be the best 5x5 out there, and it's at a good price too.

7x7: I don't have one yet, would a mini ShengShou be better for starting than a cubic Aofu? Cuz if I get a 50$ 7x7 but end up not liking it, that's 50$ gone to waste.
Well mini ShengShou and cubic AoFu are the only real viable options for speedcubing, so yeah. It's up to you. If you like the feel of MoYu's 5x5s or 6x6, then you'll like the AoFu. If not, or if you're just worried about wasting money, there's the Mini SS.

Hope this helped.

I support your advice to IAMEpic2004 but from my experience I'd say go directly with the Dayan. It's weird that some people (including myself) finds a problem with internal catching in all Moyu 2x2s (I have a LingPo but I have heard the same about YuPo and TangPo) while others can use them as mains. In my case catching can ruin at least 1 in 3 solves so I cannot seriously use it. In any case, if finally going for a Moyu I agree that at least the YuPo is basically the same but much, much cheaper.

That will never happen with the Dayan. The only problem is that newer Dayans have a different plastic and are not as good as old ones (that's what I've heard, in any case). It happens to mine :( It's a little less smooth and more bumpy that old ones.

I agree that Hualong is good enough. I have the TangLong and, at best, it's marginally better. I'm almost a collector of 3x3s that's why I keep getting new cubes that don't make me any faster. I'm also waiting to get my hands on a YueXiao :)

Just get the YuXin. it's pretty universally considered to be the best 5x5 out there, and it's at a good price too.

Cannot agree more!!!

No idea, as I don't do 7x7... yet. But if he's not sure about getting into 7x7 I'd also get a Mini SS. The Cubic AoFu is a bit expensive.
