Question: Is there a CLEAR CUT best 4x4x4? I've look in many places, but keep getting conflicting answers. Why is the no clear cut best 4x4x4 like the Dayan Guhong for 3x3x3?

you can't say, that GuHong is the best cube out here, it suits me well too, but it is based on preferences, as there are people who like another cubes like F-II or A-V etc... I heard x-cube is just great and Dayan+MF8 too if you set tension, lube it etc (when I got it for friend out of box, I couldn't believe someone can speedcube with it, but maybe it's really just about tension and Lubix...)

what I needt: I want new cube just for one handed... something that could be light, cuts corners well, don't lock up, etc, (I don't mind crispy feeling or anything, just need the cube to be controlable and be easy to move) thx

I'm going to say Dayan Guhong.

A brand new newbie looking for confirmation. Looking for 2 (different) cubes, for the lady and I. We've never touched cubes before, and would like to get into cubing ^_^

Thinking about the AIII-f and F-II. Thoughts? I'm having a hard time deciphering all the different cube names at the different shops. >.< Is there a place I can buy both?

you can get both of those from speedcubeshop.com, they are very nice over there and have very fast shipping from California. The f-II is a little fast for a beginners cube, but the f I is pretty good, and so is the ghost hand I.

If I may suggest, you should first try it on storebought cube, they aren't that bad and you can control them much more than really good cubes (when I switched to GuHong (really nice cube too :)) it was really hard for me, because it just turned when I touched it) btw I think A-IIIs are smaller than other cubes

FII and Lingyun are good options, I love my Lingyun and my FII
(Not directed at you)
There is this thing called "personal preference."

if it's not dircted at me, why did you quoted me?
you need me to set size in centimeters for you to suggest me a cube? it has to be light, controlable, easy to move and good for OH, all said in my post

Hi, I'm looking for a cube that is quite, cuts corners and smooth.
Any suggestions

Are you a beginner, intermediate, or advanced?
It's tough to answer your question without knowing.

Regardless, the Dayan Guhong meets all of this criteria, but don't get it if you are a beginner. You won't be able to control it.
A great beginner's cube is the Rubik's Storebought cube

My Average is around 50 seconds, quite new to cubing. Already have a Storebought.

Keep getting faster and learn finger tricks. A good beginner cube is the Cube4you Diy. You are not a fast turner so you don't need a guhong or FII (I'm assuming you don't use finger tricks). The cube4you diy (assembled version) is still fast and has a smooth feel to it too. It's fast too and won't overturn.
After your averaging 25-30, you can get an F-II if you want, or Guhong.

I herd GhosHand I is good next step, but if you're surious with cubing, concider now buying really good cube like GuHong, A-V, F-II, etc.

Bumping...

you have answer at OAQT... I saw mini A, it's nice cube, also one of my friends had Rubik's mini and it was horrible....

AGH!
A good 'Beginners' cube is a Guhong, LingYun, F2, and AV! Exactly the same list as for non-beginners. This isn't F1 racing or anything (in which I'm sure a beginner driver would probably kill themselves), it's not difficult to learn how to turn a cube (even if it's 'fast'). If anything getting used to a hard to turn cube could teach bad habits.

I started at GuHong and must say that first week was horrible for me... it came pre-lubed with lubix, so when I just touched it, upper layer was twisting... if I'd start on some more stable cube I wouldn't have that problem
