hey guys,
so currently i have a Lan lan 4x4 and 2x2. i was thinking of replacing them with something better, aka a SS for the 4x4 and a wittwo for the 2x2. my question was, which one should i get first? the wittwo 2x2 or the SS 4x4? thanks :)

Which ever one you play with more will likely be the better choice to upgrade first. Unless of course the reason you play with one is because you hate the other, or you just don't play with either ever. I personally prefer 4x4 and I love my SS. But very much personal preference here.

the best cubes + mods (as of 1/13)

what are the best cubes on the market right now? I've been out of the cubing world for a while and wanna know. here is what i've gathered so far:
2x2: wittwo v1
3x3: zhanchi
4x4: ss 4x4 v3 or v4 (with konsta and florian mod)
5x5: vcube or ss 5x5 (pi mod for vcube, florian for ss)
6x6: ss or vcube (w/pi mod)
7x7: vcube/ss
8x8-11x11: ss
megaminx: dayan
is this correct? what are your preferences + favorite mods for preferred cubes? and mods I don't know about (not listed here) that work well?

That's your choice, dude. I don't think it's a good investment. If I were you, I would buy from 2x2 to 6x6 and if there was money left, I would get some more of whichever your favorite puzzle is.

One COULD make a list with totally different cubes depending on taste. ;)
Fair point, but i think he really wants to hear which cubes are consitently providing positive feedback over the largest possible spread of cubers. Obviously there will be rediculous amounts of skew because of opinion, but I don't think many would argue with that list as being a helluva good collection of cubes (if you had them all ;) ).

The best cheap sub 5$ cube to teach someone how to solve the cube?

QJ
ShengShou
Type A (GuoJia)
Type D (YongJun)
Type E (Diansheng)

Those are the one I was able to find... I want a "good" quality cheap cube to teach a friend of mine how to solve the cube (and of course, gift it to her)...

Dayan Guhong vs. Zhanchi vs. Maru Standard

Recently I got sorta sick of the beginners Rubik's cube and I want to buy a better one.

I found out that Dayan produces some very decent speed cube.

But still, i don't know which one to get, dayan guhong, dayan zhanchi, or the maru standard one.

Also, should I get a cube with or without stickers and what brand of lube should i use?

Edit: Also, what size should I get? does it make any difference at all?

The two most popular cubes at the moment are probably the Zhanchi and the Guhong v2. Both are fanastic, and which you prefer really is down to personal preference.

Stickerless cubes aren't allowed in competitions, so if you plan to compete (which you should if you can), they're a bad idea. If you won't be competing with it though, it's up to you.

As for lube, most people use some kind of silicone oil. Some brands like Lubix, Izo Lube and Lubicle are specifically designed for cubes, but any high-viscosity silicone oil will work just fine.

Guhong is not smoother than a zhanchi. At least mine isn't ;)

You're doing it wrong.

I'm going to guess that the Guhong you're talking about is a loose V2 with torpedoes. If that's the case, take the torpedoes out (or better yet get a V1) then tighten the cube and lube the core with some thick stuff (50k or higher). Finally put in some diff/shock oil+maru and you've got yourself the best cube.
