Been using the official Rubik's Cube, want to get a better cube?

I've just gotten into cubing, and I've been using the Rubik's branded cube. However, it's really not that good (as most of you probably know).

My question is, what's a good cube to get?
I would really like one that you can order off Amazon, so I've been looking at the Dayan GuHong and the ZhanChi. What's the difference between them? Could you recommend any others?

And stickerless cubes are not allowed at competitions, correct?

The Guhong and ZhanChi are both very good cubes. The ZhanChi, in my experience, is a bit faster and less controllable. The Guhong is still quite fast, when lubricated, and provides greater control. I use the ZhanChi but it is personal preference. I would not recommend any others, but most of them would provide an improvement on your Rubik's brand cube.

And you are correct, colored plastic cubes are not allowed for sighted solves.

Wow thanks for the fast replies ^_^

And it seems like I'll have to do more research into this.
And too bad stickerless ones aren't allowed :(

I personally hate ZhanChi's with a passion. In my opinion the best 3x3 is the LingYun version 2 because they are fast but they do not pop like a ZhanChi's does every other solve.

I thought I loved ZhanChis until I dropped almost a second by switching to a GuHong and turning calmly.

I'm sorry that you've had a bad experience with Zhanchis, but I keep my zhanchi fairly loose (with torps) and it almost never pops on me. Other people who aren't used to my tensions pop it, but because I am used to my tensions, it works great for me.

I do some practice on my guhong to improve my control of the cube, but ultimately I use my zhanchi for speed.

Get them all....I have over 1,100 twisty puzzles, over 200 diferent types. They are all fun (and usually frustrating) from the Tower of Babel (Ivory tower) to 7x7's to the Orb. All fun and I just love them all!
