I prefer the tiled MF8 over Dayan. People say MF8 is more locky but after tensioning it is just not true. Plus Tiles>stickers or ridges on the mega.

MF8 is alright, it was my main for many years but it's kind of old compared to the newer megaminxes and it's more expensive. But I did like the tiles on mine quite a bit.

For the 3x3, i am looking for the smooth, quiet cubes that i really want to try out. Thanks!
The Moyu Weilong is a smooth and buttery cube. However some people say it is uncontrollable(Too fast). If you want a smooth cube that is slower, then check out the ShengShou Aurora.

So, I have yet another set of 3x3 questions.

I love the way shengshou big cubes feel. I hate the lockups, but I love the feel. The crunchiness. I guess the Liying would be closer to that than a Weilong or Aolong? Any other 3x3s that are crunchy and don't lock up?

Also, how is the Liying without lube? I don't like gummy feeling cubes, because it's the opposite of crunchy, and if I can get away with not using lube, that's what I do.

I don't need a really fast cube. I overshoot with those since my turning style is tailored to cubes bigger than 3x3. Just one without lockups and with crunchiness.

Well if you are set on getting a MoYu cube then the crunchiest of the bunch is the HuanYing but of course it has its drawbacks. I consider the LiYing to be a smoother cube. It is slightly clicky but minimally so. Neither lock-up but lock-ups depend on the person and their turning style. However the MoYu cube I think most feels like my ShengShou big cubes is probably the AoLong. It won't feel like them at first but after breaking it in it feels quite crunchy to me. Moving away from MoYu cubes, there is also the YJ 3x3s specifically the YuLong. It's very crunchy and to me it's the cube that feels most like my ShengShou big cubes.

Which drawbacks are you referring to about the Huanying?

I'm surprised you say that the Liying is very smooth but the Huanying is very crunchy, since they're simply V1 and V2 of a design that's mostly the same. Maybe they're more different than I'd anticipated.

I'd assumed that the Aolong, as well as the Weilong, would be too fast for me.

Hmm. I'll look into the YJ cubes.

Well the HuanYing is very noisy and some people don't like noisy cubes and it's prone to corner twists. Yes the LiYing is the V2 of the HuanYing but they feel different from each other. This is because the HuanYing is hollow. With the LiYing, MoYu covered up the hollow pieces eliminating the noise and for the most part, the crunchiness. The LiYing is a little bit clicky but not fully so and it's smooth but not completely. So it's kind of somewhere in the middle. It is a good cube though.

What do you average on 3x3? They might be too fast for you at first if you aren't used to them but all cubes take getting used to.

I guess this isn't really the most ideal place to put this, but I'll give it a go.

Can someone remind me what an Aurora feels like after minimal breaking in? I've had mine for a while now and it's crazy fast, faster than my weilong and can U2 with one flick easily. It still feels smooth, but it's kind of loud and almost clicky.

If I remember correctly it feels very smooth but it's sort of a gummier smooth. At least I think that's how mine felt.

I average 18. I tried a Weilong when I was slower than 30 seconds and it was way too fast and I wasn't a fan of the insanely smooth feeling.

Other people described the Liying as crunchy and clacky. So...??? I don't know. Just from the way it sounds when it's turned in videos, I feel like I would like the way it feels. But maybe not.

Speed wise all of these cubes should be fine for you including the WeiLong and AoLong. The WeiLong is a very smooth cube and not at all clicky or crunchy so I get why you aren't a fan of it. The way a cube feels is relative to the cuber. I classify the LiYing under smooth because that's what it feels like to me and it doesn't really compare or have a similar feeling to other crunchy cubes I have like the YuLong, Gans III v2, or Maru CX3. Other people might classify it differently and I can see why but it's all up to personal taste. It is a good cube though so if you're considering getting it, then go ahead. It is 'slower' in my opinion because it's no where near as fast as a WeiLong or Zhanchi but all my PBs were made using a LiYing.

OK, that explanation about the Moyu cubes clarified things nicely. :tu I've heard mixed things about the Gans III and the Maru CX3. How are those cubes in terms of lockups/reverse corner cutting?

Thank you for answering so many of my questions, by the way. I probably am thinking more about this than I need to, but it's a tough choice. I sure don't like my Zhanchi. Too bad there isn't an obvious choice for 3x3 like there is with everything else. With big cubes, the selection is so small that it's easy to pick. And with 2x2, Wittwo V1 sounds like the perfect choice for me in every way. It's only 3x3 that's tough. Lol.

Sure, no problem. I'm happy to help. I understand with so many different 3x3s on the market it can tough to choose one.

The Gans III v2 is kind of a unique cube since it has a fully plastic core and no screws. This makes is very light, slightly noisy, but also very crunchy. It's a hit or miss cube though and most people either hate or love it. I think it's a good cube. It's fast and very crunchy, corner cuts pretty well, and doesn't lock up but again lock ups depend on the cuber. Now be careful not to confuse this with the 57mm version which is called the Gans III 57mm. That is a different cube and it is very, very smooth and not crunchy. The Gans III v2 is a 56mm cube but most people say they hardly notice the difference in size.

Now for the CX3. I'm not a huge fan of this cube only because it's too big for me. It is a 58mm cube and another hit or miss. It's very clicky and corner cutting is decent but not great. The cube itself is very blocky but I don't usually get lock ups with it. But I don't use it that often so I don't know if I can give an accurate description of it or not. To be honest though I wouldn't recommend it. If you get the chance to test it out though I highly recommend you do.

The Wittwo v1 is very crunchy so you'll probably like it. There are other 2x2s similar to it but I think it's a good option for you for now.
