What?!

well I am still a beginner two, working on 3 different kinds, 2x2, 3x3 and pyraminx all in 3 months time. but the order is in. I got the Guhong v2, I can't wait for it to get here. and here is the thing with and about pros which is why I never call myself that is I have seen many videos where A regular Rubiks cube comes out of the box and no lube or anything is done in one hand only in less than A min. once you get that good, it really does not matter on the cube, like juggling, you learn with 2-3 beginner balls and once you have it down you can juggle 3 Rubik's cubes the same way as the balls, I know, I have seen it done. so, I just went the cheaper way.

Are you kidding?!!! Of course the type of cube matters! I am, without a doubt, at least 2 times faster with my zhanchi than a normal (not broken in)rubiks cube.
Pro's may solve it in just less than one minute using a regular rubiks cube, but if they were to use their normal speedcube, im sure they'd be back subbing 15secs- easily !

Agreed, I have a lubed up original Rubik's brand cube, and it's still terrible. When my first proper speedcube (guhong 2) arrived, I put my original cube in my daughters toy box!

Anyone who can turn an original Rubik's brand cube OH deserves a medal. It may be possible, but it wouldn't be fun. To use you're juggling analogy, would be like juggling three bricks. Red hot ones. Covered in acid!

But seriously - why? You can pick up a decent cube online FAR cheaper than a Rubik's cube. Why would you use a stiffer, slower, more expensive cube? Sure, there might be people out there who are sub 15 with one... But they're probably sub 8 with a zhanchi!

Hi there, I did not mean to offend anyone. The Problem with the Rubiks cube is that it does no cut corners.. Also the cubes they sell at dollar tree are OMG, They stick A lot and if you move it to fast when it sticks then it does pop. but I have seen A Pro Speed the dollar tree cube in less than A minute, that was really cool. but it is best that you pick A cube with 4 holes in the center, so that means it cuts corners good.

Yeah I would definately recommend the SS Wind, it's a great cube for most people (unless you solve like sub-18). Because I'm really slow at 3x3 I use the Wind as my main cube, and it's perfect for what I need.

Thankx for the link... I am really new to this...but i did watch some videos on how to adjust the cube i have and i am liking it a little better now...but i am still gonna pick up the Shengshou...one think i have picked up in this so far is that everyone has a different liking to what style of cube they like and you just kinda have to start buying them and see which one is for you...good thing this is an inexpensive hobby.

Yeah, you just have to find what type of cube suites your type of solving. Good luck, and I hope you like the ShengShou Wind :)

Hi, I have a Rubik's brand cube 3x3 but it's really slow, so i'm thinking of buying a new cube. I have read here that dayan zhanchi is a good choice. Do you think that a diy is exactly the same with an assembled? Also I can buy it in a variety of sizes. 57mm is ok?

57mm is standard size. Some people with smaller hands, or looking for one-handed cubes go for 55 or 50mm. DIY is the same as assembled, identical cube, but not put together and no stickers or lube. Some people have their own preferences for lube and stickers, and find the Dayan stickers a bit dark - so they buy DIY, then lube and put their own stickers on. I've tried both - assembled will be fine if it's your first speedcube, when you start caring about different types of lube and sticker colours, maybe go for a DIY!

Good 6x6 and 7x7 cubes, price regardless?

Shengshou or v-cube?

Edit: not for super fast solver, but not too slow for a comp if I build up speed.

Going from a rubik's to a zhanchi is going to suck, I say get an f4. Out of the box its slower/harder to cut, which will help you be more precise, but once you break that thing in it cuts further and is easier to manipulate. You're going to be making wrong moves not even trying going right to a zhanchi.

And here is someone who went from a knock off rubik (worse than Rubik) to a zhanchi. Heaven on earth. Just keep it tight in the beginning and you can loosen it up as you speed up. Works like a peach :)

I learned to cube on a zhanchi and lingyun. I see no point in not upgrading to the very best from the beginning. It'll take a little while to get used to it, but that's the case any time you switch cubes.

I don't get it, you can peel stickers off and move them too. That is just Crazy and makes no sense to me.

When you turn a layer 45 degrees, you can glimpse the colors that would be on the back face, which is impossible on a normal cube. This is because the pieces are actually made of different colors of plastic. This may provide a slight advantage in seeing or looking for pieces.
