Hello Guys,

Thanks to this forum and Badmephisto's videos, I had a renewed interest in solving a Rubik's cube. I'm not a speed cuber nor addicted too much into cubing. I have a couple of 3x3's (store bought's and a sticker less Guhong ) and a LanLan 4x4 with me.
Coming to the point I want to buy a small 3x3, 2x2 and pyraminx; but not sure which brand to go for.

The cube should be smooth and no Lockups, corner cutting is not necessary.

Which one would you guys recommend.

PS: I have Lubix.

For a small 3x3, the New Alpha - IV is decent You could go in for the Type C as well, but I haven't used that one. There is also a REALLY TINY TYPE A. I don't know exactly which one this is

There's just 2 good 2x2s out there. The LanLan and the Ghosthand. You can't go wrong with either.

The QJ Pyraminx is wonderful with breaking and a lot of Maru Lube

Almost any DIY Will help out,
I recommend a FII they have this nice bubbly feel to them and they are awesome.
AV, GH,GHII, GuHong, Lingyun, and most other DIY are good.

3x3 - I suggest the DIY kit as your first DIY, so you can see how it works, if that makes sense.

Those are all from Cubedepot, which ships from New York I think. (If not, it's New Jersey or something)
If you live closer to California then buy from speedcubeshop.
But that's just America. Not sure about any where else but China.

There are about 4 or 5 good 4x4s that people recommend (with varying price points) none of them you mentioned in that list. Try going back a few pages in this thread to see what people recommend.

Edit: Can anyone recommend a good brand of Clock?

I have an FII, is a haiyan memory an upgrade?

It depends on what type of cube you like. Those 2 cubes have opposite characteristics.

F2=quiet, smooth, bubbly feel.
A5=Loud, not as smooth, noisy loud fast feel.
You are probably already used to the F2, so you might not like the A5 that much. Try the Guhong, it combines the best characteristics of both.

I don't know about the Crazy. But the LanLan 4x4 shouldn't see the light of day. It's a pathetic cube (for me at least). The ES deteriorates over time. If you want a decent 4x4, I'd recommend either the X Cube 4 or a Shenshou

Yes, the GuHong is most certainly amazing.

I think plastic quality though I'm not too sure. The black one is 28 grams heavier which in my opinion, could mean better plastic quality. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The only one available now is the cubetwist (or so I think). You need to break the shell and lube the internal kogs.

Also, is the shenshou 4x4 the Ghosthand 1 or 2? Is it even the same as a ghosthand 4x4?

fII's corner cutting is fine, it's just the m-slices that have problems.
A6 locks up moderately.

My question: What should i lube a clock with?

for sq 1 its probably mf8 but some like cubetwist
for magic its preference

I'd recommend mf8 for megaminx or mefferts if you are serious about speed-minxing !
QJ pyraminx is good enough , I also heard lanlan is ok
For square 1 definitely go for a mf8 unless you wanna get crazy of cubetwist's pops !
