I’m having my very first comp soon and I would like to ask if a backup main is necessary?
It’s not necessary but while you wait for your cube or clonk to be scrambled you can keep warm with a backup
Or if you lose it, it gets stolen, falls into the toilet... whatever...

It doesn't hurt to have a backup ;)

As the others said, you can also use it as a warmup cube.
I have just received my shengshou clock with professional setup and customised weaker springs. I have extended the pins and I can say that it is just as good as a stock qiyi clock but with clickier pins, but it’s just less than half the price of the qiyi clock. However, I still prefer my well setup qiyi clock over it.

I have done some solves on my well setup qiyi clock with customised stronger magnetic gears, and my professional setup shengshou clock with customised weaker springs and extended pins. I average 0.5s faster on my qiyi clock than on my shengshou clock. The only problem of the shengshou is that the gears do not align.

I got my premium setup shengshou clock from pi cube shop, a well-known cube retailer in China providing WCA puzzles setup services like the Cubicle and SCS. I got my Weilong pyraminx and yj mgc elite 2x2 from them as well, both with premium setup. The pi setup yj mgc elite was an instant main after just a bit of breaking in like 10 solves. The Weilong pyraminx was not that great ootb but as I further lube it according to the advices from their customer service and adjusted the magnet strength, it has become my main over the GAN enhanced pyraminx and the yuxin little magic M pyraminx. I have already ordered a pi setup weilong skewb as well as I found my GAN enhanced too loose even with GAN pyraminx nuts and my maglev wingy v1 catches quite a bit. I just don't really understand why I do better on the aoyan than both the GAN enhanced and my maglev wingy v1. Btw actually the gts2m used by YuSheng Du to set the 3.47 WR was set up by pi cube shop.

Also I want to buy a Steven's Yuxin Little Magic M Pyraminx, but I don't know where can i get it. I am already asking on this forum if anyone would like to sell or trade their Steven's Yuxin Little Magic M Pyraminx. Not sure why but pi cube shop do not have the Yuxin Little Magic M Pyraminx.

Where can I get a Steven's Yuxin Little Magic M Pyraminx?
Since Cubicle isn't making and selling them anymore, you have 2 options -
Find someone to sell you a used one
or make your own.

Steven and Cubicle both have videos of how they set it up, so it's easier and cheaper to make your own.
The Cubicle video is just Steven doing it for them, so it's the same setup.

Cubicle also has a video on how to setup Steven's WeiLong pyraminx, which is the custom one they sell now in place of the YLM custom setup, since they said the YLM quality control has gone downhill so bad that they no longer recommend the YLM at all.
