and if not, get a new Chilong, perhaps yours is worn out or plain bad, even though I think it might just be a case of a cube not properly set up. Mine is wonderful, plenty fast (I even slowed it down a bit with lube) and corner cutting is a bit more than 45º and reverse c.c. is 2/3 of a cubie easily, no pops, no corner twists, almost no lock-ups... I lock up less than with my Weilong (v2).

I agree. I have the Chilong and it's my favorite 3x3 in the "long" series. Maybe it's just not for PJK but it never locks up for me. In fact it's what I imagined the Aolong would feel like. It's lighter, less clunky, faster, and smoother.

/end Chilong fanboying

I average 15.7x. Chilong sucks for me. It doesn't match my turning style, locks up a lot on me and lacks corner cutting. Isn't Gans 357 a hit or miss cube?
What is the most reliable cube for me right now? I want a smooth, quiet, fast(not uncontrollable). I have a forceful turning style.
It's definitely ZhanChi. Gans 357 was a miss but I'm not sure because feliks uses it as his main so a lot of people bought it.

It all depends on how you set it (tensions & lube) because, to be honest, I don't think the Chilong has less corner cutting than, say, a Weilong.

Regarding the Gans 357 I cannot tell, I ordered one last month but I have not received it yet (due to chinese new year) and, anyway, I'm slower than you so... but even if I was as fast or faster the best person to know which cube is the best for you is... yourself.

I'll try my best to help you, though :). If you want quiet then forget about the Huanying, Liying, Yueying, and also about the new FS Guangying. If you want fast, well, you can make any top cube fast with proper lube so... I'd say:

- If you liked your Aolong V1 perhaps try an Aolong V2,
- If not get a Zhanchi (really!!!). Felix posted the other day a vid & blog you can check here) where he says he wasn't aware how good the Zhanchi still was.
- If you don't want a Zhanchi, for whatever reason, which I think you have said several times, then get a Weilong
- and if you don't want a Weilong, come on, try the Gans...
- or the Yuxin :)

I liked Aolong V1 except for its speed. V2 is even slower. I love the feel of the Aolong a lot.
Zhanchi or Weilong?

If you think v1 is slow then weilong is the cube for you.

Yeah, I agree. Definitely the Aolong is, compared to the other top notch cubes, a bit sluggish, but that can be improved with proper lube. Anyway, probably the Weilong is your cube, PJK, but honestly, for me, from all the more or less recent cubes, it's the one more similar in feel to the Zhanchi :)

I think Zhanchi is the way now. I don't need that crazy Weilong speed unless I have really good look ahead and am a sub 10 solver.

But the Zhnchi is old

Right now I have 3 cubes I use a lot:
- Sulong, which I use when I want a quiet cube
- Chilong, which is my main
I have these two lubed with weight 3 silicone oil (weigth 5 for the core). I can easily get to 15-16 seconds with these with good lookahead.
- Weilong (v2), which I use as secondary to my main
I had this on Maru lube and I now lubed it with silicone but speedier (weight 2, also weight 5 for the core). The cube feels like it wants to turn, and, of course I make mistakes and my standard deviation is worse but it looks like I can do fast times with it, if I'm accurate. I don't know how it would feel like with weight 1, probably uncontrollable for me.

My point, if you think Zhanchi is old, get a Weilong and I'm sure you can tune it to suit your style and desired speed. If it feels a bit too fast for you, you can always slow it down with a bit more lube or with a heavier weight.

I can't buy lube with the amount of money I have right now. I can only buy 2 3x3's and 2 sticker sets from the cubicle. Zhanchi seems very reliable and it will never be a hit or miss, so I will buy a 55mm Zhanchi for OH and regular Zhanchi and replace the stickers with full brights.:)

Unless you have really small hands you don't need a 55mm for OH. With what you save in the cube you can get the silicone but, what do I know? You are going to buy the cube you were saying you didn't want all the time so, anything is possible :)

there was a moment that zhanchi is stated as a uncontrolable cube and loud. now many people says zhanchi is pretty quite and controlable. can anyone explain this to me?

My hands are 16 cm from the wrist. Besides, 55mm Zhanchi is better than 57mm. Are my hands small?

Relativism. On any timeline, perspectives change.

Recall, not too long ago the Gans 357 was cheap and flimsy. Today, out-of-stock and in demand. Your name pseudonym says it all. FADs.
