The amount of work depends on the way you do it. I only drop a couple drops of maru lube into the cube without taking it apart. But everybody does it a different way. Some people like lubed cubes, some people don't

I'm thinking about getting a Guhong v2. Thing is though, I heard that the pieces are exactly the same as v1 except with torpedoes. Also hear that it is exactly like v1 if the torpedoes are taken out. So is there any good reason why people say it feels different or that it's a lot better? I have a Guhong v1 already and it almost never pops on me anyway. Would it not be the same if I just bought torpedoes and stuck them in my v1?

Right now, it's my main. I have never taken the torps out, but the pieces are the same, but I think there's a plastic change between the two. With the torps, it's a little more reminiscent of a zhanchi because of the clicky-ish ness.

Different plastic. The GuHongv2 is a lot smoother, because of the it. It's also the main reason why I would take the GuHongv2 over my v1.

First speedcube 3x3x3 and 2x2x2, what to get?

So, I just got into speedcubing, and and have a rather worn down rubik brand cube (don't ate, it was a present). My first method was the Heise Method, and Now I average about 1:30~1:45 per solve using my standard cube, and am now learning ZZ (sanded down the edges). I plan on getting a set of new cubes.

What should I get? I can't choose between the guhong or the zanchi.

P.S. What 2x2x2 cube to get?

Any cube you order online from a non-us store is likely Chinese, and they are on holidays .. a lot of them anyway. So anything you order now is not going to get to you before the 26th.

GuHong and Zhanchi are both very good choices. Get both if you can, flip a coin if you can't.
