I average even worse. Maybe Guhong? I find my Zhanchi keeps falling out of my left hand when I OH so I switched to Guhong and improved to averaging 55 (average of 12 has times from 30 to 90 sec :fp )

I'd recommend a Lingyun v2. Lingyuns are very fast, so they would be easy to turn for OH, and with the new torpedoes added in they won't pop.

Hey everyone,

This is my first post on Speedsolving!

I've started to get more serious into speedcubing so I thought I would ask the community about what cube to get.
About a month ago, I got a (Blue) Type FI (I think) and I really really liked it. I love the bubbly/rounded type feeling of the cube.
My friend who averages about 15sec owns a JSK core + Type A cubies hybrid he made. He claims the the JSK core/springs are really godly, so he made me put the JSK core/springs in my Type F too.
Well it turned out really bad, the JSK centers make the Type F cubies bulge outwards. (I think the center is bigger than the cubies.)
So yeah I need a new cube now because some of the springs have bent due to the bulging.

My experiences with my friends' cubes:
Stickerless Guhong: I don't really like it, it feels super "square" to me.
Haiyan Memory : It's way too clicky for me.
LingYun V2 : I don't like the "springy" feeling you get while turning it.

So what I'm looking for is a cube that has a bubbly/rounded feeling to it, while turning fast too. I hate clicky cubes. I am willing to sacrifice corner cutting if it prevents lockups.

Questions:
What is the difference between type F1, F2, F3, and DIY F types?
What lube should I use? I heard that liquid lubricant is better on Type F's, but I've never lubed cubes before. Does liquid mean CRC? And spray is Jigaloo right?

Thanks everyone!

Hi and welcome :)

To answer your first question, the type FI/FII pretty much have the same bubbly feeling to them. The FII is just slightly faster than the FI. The FIII is completely different, it feels very crispy and clicky, so you probably wouldn't like it. As for the second question, I would recommend either Jigaloo or differential oil. You could also go with Lubix if you are willing to spend the money, but since you are a beginner Jigaloo would probably work ok. As for your ultimate recommendation, I think you would enjoy the Type FII. If you liked your FI then you would certainly like the FII, it feels bubbly and is fast. When you order one, however, get extra 3x3 stickers with it. The stickers that come on the FII wear out extremely easily.

I've never felt an FI, but I'd think it's similar to the FII, which I have. I really really like the FII, it's crispy, but not too crispy. It's smaller than the Dayan cubes. It has that "bubbly" feeling to it, and it's corner cutting is about 40 degrees roughly, at least on my cube, and I've never tensioned it. I'd recommend it. It also has tracks on the pieces so they fit together and don't pop easily, though the center caps are loose.

1. I've got no idea.
2. If you are going to lube your type F, just use lubix or maru. CRC or Jigaloo, I think, work better on Dayan/Rubik's brand cubes. CRC and Jigaloo are both sprays.

The stickers that come on the FII wear out extremely easily.

I don't think so! The stickers on mine are actually very durable. The stickers on my Guhong are worse than on my FII. There is only one sticker on my FII that is chipped ever so slightly.

Thanks for the really fast replies!

You know how the Blue Type F's are considered the best? Are Type F2's anything like that/are there even different colored ones?

And for stickers, does it matter which one you get or are they all preference?

Yeah so right now I'm probably going for the TypeF2 and Jigaloo. This one right? http://www.speedcubeshop.com/apps/webstore/products/show/1306948

There is just black/white of the FII. At one point I think there were grey ones, but they aren't made anymore. For stickers, most people would recommend CubeSmith, but any brand will really hold up pretty well. And you do have the correct cube there. If you do end up buying CubeSmith though, make sure you get this size. They are optimized for Type-F cubes.

Could you compare the feel of the normal stickers, smooth, and textured to something so I know what they feel like?

Could you guys recommend me 2x2 through 7x7 cubes? (Excluding 3x3)
Something that is decent to good, would allow me to "speed"cube; something good enough so I don't have to buy another one of the same size. Like. Ever. But not something like super pro/expensive.

Thanks!
