Hey guys,

I am going to buy a new 3x3 cube soon, but I'm not sure exactly which one to get. I use a 55mm Zhanchi right now and I'm thinking about getting Moyu Aolong V2. I went to a cubing competition earlier this year and 90% of the people had Aolong V2's so that was definitely the most popular cube. Is there a new cube that is better or an improvement of Aolong V2? I don't want to spend more then about $16. Also since the Aolong V2 is 57mm how will that affect me?
I have both, the zhanchi and the aolong v2, and my times are very similar with them (20-25s). So your times won't improve, maybe tenths of seconds, no more. About the size, is matter of getting used to it, maybe you'll find it big the first solves, then it'll be ok. I enjoy more solving the aolong because it locks up less and is overall more fluid. I recommend that cube over those new cubes with squared off corners that sometimes catch a bit if aren't set up properly. With the aolong you can't get wrong.
Another similar cube is the thunderclap v1, wich is basically a faster aolong (and it's 56mm, so if you like the size of your zhanchi this could be better for you).
If you want a cheaper one, the cyclone boys cloud is vey nice, and their last one, the feichi, is probably even better.

Hi all, I've been off the cubing radar for a year or so, and my 4x4-6x6 are ShengShou original, all about 3 years old. There's so many different cubes in those sizes these days, what are some of the better options? I'd probably prefer stickerless, if that makes the advice any easier?!

Im a returning speed-cuber and I need help finding a good speed-cube (3x3). I stopped speed cubing around the time of last January or so. Some of my favorite cubes from around here were the Moyu Tanglong and the Gans 356 (V1). I've been looking around for only about 5 minutes and it appears that some of the more popular cubes now seem to be Moyu Weilong GTS and Valk 3. I have plenty to spend (up to 40 dollars) on a cube so please help me!

If you like Gans cubes, the 356 Air is great, it's my personal favorite. It's really smooth, has really light turning, is incredibly stable, and you can customize it quite a lot. It does catch a lot though, which is something that goes away after you get used to it.

The GTS is really flexy and clicky (some people say crunchy), has slightly heavier turning, is less catchy and usually has better corner cutting. It can't get nearly as fast as the Gans Air, though.

I don't have a Valk 3, but from what I've heard it's sort of a mid-way between the GTS and the Air.

KZCubeReview has some pretty thorough reviews.

If you decide on the GTS or the Valk, I'd suggest you take a look at the Cubicle Labs magnetic versions. I don't know how flexible your $40 limit is, but basically everyone I've seen who uses them either loves them or prefers the magnetic version but doesn't like the base cube itself.
(Sadly there's no magnetic Gans because they take way too much work.)

I think it depends on where you are,

Can't set up cubes: Cubicle Thunderclap. The original is a budget-like cube but has top-level performance when set up correctly. This way as a beginner cuber you don't have to worry about setting up to get a really good cube for the price of the average cube without being set up. The Valk3 is a great choice too even though out of the box it is really fast, because its stability really counteracts the speed
Can set up cubes: Aolong V2, Thunderclap (regular or cubicle your call), Yuexiao, Weilong GTS, The valk3

So obviously I left out the gans air, because I felt it was the only cube out of the others I listed with a major design flaw; it catches a whole lot (yes, Aolong can corner twist but not often; People complain about the yuexiao catching, but i haven't found that to be the case). Also it's expensive as hell, considering that the performances of cubes these days are so similar, its better to try out multiple ones with your budget and find your preferred cube. Maximize what you can do with your budget.

My opinion:
Thunderclap because I'm just biased towards it. I think its better than any cube I've used. If you get the regular one make sure you have weight 5 or traxxas 50k + lubicle silk (these two types of lube will work on ANY cube, so even though you're spending more, you have this lube for all other cubes you get) + sticker set. If you get the cubicle premium version then I suppose you don't need anything extra. At max your spending 33$. At minimum your spending 12$ (The thunderclap really needs a sticker set, the original stickers suck). Gucci.

or

Gans 356s V2 lite + sticker set because you said your favorite cubes were the V1 and tanglong, and this version is very similar to them at a more friendly cost (with stickers around 19$).

Actually, considering you're a returning cuber I'll assume you don't have lubicle silk. No matter what cube you buy get some silk; the hype is real.

I'll have to disagree a bit on the catching.
Yes, it does have a bigger problem with catching than a lot of other cubes, but as I noted before that goes away. You just have to set it up and practice with it a bit.
I'd say the real problem is that it's a pain to set up right, and if it's not set up right it just sucks.

Good point about the price, though. I'm not sure I can recommend it

just get a valk3. Its probably the most used cube on the market. It replaced my GTS, and I dropped 1.5sec bc of it. Plus the world record holder for single uses it.

I have the shengshou 6x6 but it is very bad so I want to get a new 6x6.
You'll have to wait, they have been released a days ago. You should consider the Yuxin too, its much smaller than the other two (specially the Weishi), so could be more comfortable in your hands.

I was having a guanlong after 4-5 years absent. If you're looking for a fresh inexpensive speedcube, maybe you can go with the guanlong and then try some more highend cubes like Gans or the Weilong GTS.

Looking into getting a new 3x3 for my collection. Basically whittled it down to either the Fangshi Shuangren v2 or the Moyu Weilong GTS.

What are people opinions on the 2?

CB G4, Yuxin 5x5 and Yuxin 6x6 (all stickerless) are the ones I use but, I don't have any of the more recent 5x5s or 6x6s, except for the BoChuang 5x5. The Yuxin 5x5 cannot be bad, though, Feliks still uses it ;) But regarding the 6x6 maybe the Weishi or Wuhua are a bit better than the Yuxin, not sure.

Hey can someone who has both the weilong gts and valk3 list the differences between them and suggest which is better.

Hey can someone who has both the weilong gts and valk3 list the differences between them and suggest which is better.
I'll do my best.

Differences:

- Valk3 is a tad smaller at 55.5mm, it looks like nothing but it's noticeable. I am fan of 57mm cubes and had been forced to adapt lately to 56mm ones so I had no issues in adapting to 55.5 but M-slices are starting to be a bit narrow for my big fingers.
- Valk3 is much more stable. In fact is one of the most stable cubes I've had lately. To find something this stable I have to go back to cubes with much worse corner cutting like Chilong, etc.
- GTS is faster but that doesn't mean the Valk3 is slow by any means.

Similarities:
- Both catch a little (this has to do with squared-off corners, I think). Anyway they catch less than, say, the Yuxiao.
- Both turn very nicely & corner cut very well (maybe a bit better the GTS but this also depends on tensions).

For me the Valk3 is the best option hands down. It is almost as fast but much more controllable. It's my new main since the day I unboxed it and now, when I go back to my former main (Yuexiao) it feels clumsy and catchy in comparison.
