the YJ GuanSu is one of the best 4x4s on the market, and it's only 7-8 bucks depending on where you shop. It can have single piece internal pops (easy to fix) but it will never explode and you should never have to reassemble it. However the qiyi can explode and it's not very good quality.
Hope this helped...
nice to know :) can the internal pops be prevented by tightening?

kind of, but if you make it to tight your cube will just pop more. (it's still easy to fix)
gotcha...like I said when I first posted I'm not a very fast solver and more just enjoy the puzzles so I'm not too worried about accuracy in turning causing any pops since I take my time usually. Is this something I'd have to deal with occasionally even when turning slow? Or is this more of an issue that happens in speed solving? Sorry for so many questions

I've decided to venture into the world of bigger cubes and wanted to ask a couple questions about two different cheaper 4x4x4 cubes. I'm done some digging and watched videos as well and have come down to the YJ guansu, the Qiyi Storm or the Shengshou V5. I'm sure the Shengshou is good quality but the price tag has driven me to the other two. Everything I've seen and read talks about the popping on the YJ and the Qiyi but I wanted to ask if the popping can be minimized or avoided by tightening the puzzles or if it is still an issue. I'm not really speed solver so accuracy in turning meets corner cutting isn't really a concern so much as having a good quality puzzle that I won't have to put back together if I do decide to turn faster than normal....Sorry about the newb questions
You should consider the Cyclone Boys G4, I think it's and extremely good and underrated cube.

you know...I haven't even looked at any of the CB puzzles...I'll check them out
Its 5x5 is also very good, and one of the cheapest. And if you like stickerless cubes, their shades are very nice.
Don't confuse the G4 with their first 4x4, wich is crap. The size is different (60mm the G4, 62 the old one), and the stickerless shades too (much darker on the old one).

I actually have my eyes on the Shengshou Linglong 5x5 just cause the reviews show it as a nice quality cube and I like a puzzle I can bring with me to appointments and things like that but I am looking at some reviews on the Cyclone Boy G4 now and it looks pretty cool. I do prefer stickers so I can change my color scheme every so often...It forces me to think lol! my big concern is the popping regardless of the manufacturer be it internal or pieces going everywhere lol...

cool, I think I'll go with the guansu for my 4x4. I hadn't even considered the CB puzzles before today and I did look at them and might go there for something in the future but for now I think it'll be the guansu...Linglong popping huh....this is why I'm happy I signed up for this forum :) I can get insight from people who have either been there or know someone who has...now to dig further into the 5x5...

Is Moyu Weilong mini and good cube for OH? If not please suggest some good cubes.
If you can't use a 56.5/56mm puzzle for OH then something like the Weilong mini will probably be you best bet, but you may need to figure out the right set up

I currently have an Aolong V2 that I've had for over a year and a half now, but I've been out of cubing for a while. I love the feel of the Aolong though I wish it were a bit more stable. What's come out more recently that would be a good replacement?

hi guys, so recently I've been trying out 5x5 and ave abt 2.30 mins, but after abt 10 solves my fingers start to sore, is this normal? my cube is the moyu bochuang gt 5x5 if that helps, should I stick with it or change to other 5x5s like weichuang or qiyi wushuang? thanks in advance! :)

@Honker If you just want a cheap and decent 5x5 I'd recommend the Cyclone Boys. It turns really great and does not have those "5x5 lockups". It is just a little bit unstable to speedsolve with it (not that it's not possible but there are better cubes out there for that like the Yuxin, Bochuang... but more expensive). Regarding the YJ Guansu you don't have to worry about pops unless you push it really hard. The CB G4 was also an excellent option but needs a bit of breaking in, whereas the Guansu is perfect out of the box (I prefer the G4 because it's smaller, though).

@Gallifrey There are lots of new and stable cubes out there since the Aolong v2 but I'm not sure anything has that particular feeling, unless you want to consider the Thunderclap v1, which everybody says is an improvement over the Aolong v2.

@crazycube98 After an Ao12 my hands are also sore but I avg around 3:15 so I have been solving for significantly more time than you for the same amount of solves, as you are quite faster. Bochuang is also a very smooth puzzle so, well, it's normal but it should improve with practice. Regarding changing the cube, I'd say stick to the Bochuang unless you wanna try something different. Those cubes are not going to be significantly better if at all than what you already have.

So ive been usin an aosu for awhile and ive really been enjoying 4x4 but ive stopped recently because the aosu just pops like all the time and i feel i can do much better if i didnt need to be so cautious when turning. Can anyone recommend a 4x4 that rarely pops and is very stable while still being relatively fast? I dont need the best cc or the fastest, just one that can take some rough turning.

I'd say CB G4 but it's 60mm. If you want a 62mm 4x4 then I don't know what to recommend. They say the KungFu CangFeng is really good but I didn't specially like it (maybe mine is too loose).

yuxin blue, cyclone boys G4, shengshou...

I never get pops on the aosu Have you tried tightening it?
Yeah i have but when i tighten it it becomes really slow.

What's wrong with the CangFeng?
