Can someone give a compare and contrast between the Thunderclap and Shengshou Aurora? I'm debating between those 2 for my first speedcube.

The Aurora is very smooth but tensions and lube need to be properly used / adjusted or else corner cutting is subpar compared with more recent cubes. I'd go with the Thunderclap but the Aurora is not a bad cube at all.

Is the YueXiao stable, and what does it feel like, thanks for the reply. :D

It is very stable and it feels like soft plastic and a bit scratch. I haven't finished to break in mine, so I'm not sure if the scratchiness will go away with some hundreds of solves. It has great corner cutting, not just because it corner cuts way more than 45º but because it is completely effortless and the same goes for reverse. It looks like a Meiying but it is way more stable and a bit slower, which for me is a good thing (right now my main is a Tanglong).

mafergut's reply is pretty spot on. The outer shape of the pieces on the MeiYing and YueXiao are really similar so the cubes look the same. The MeiYing plastic is harder and clackier, whereas the YueXiao is a little softer and more hollow feeling. Kinda like the difference between a SuLong and ChiLong if you are familiar with those cubes (although the YueXiao and MeiYing are both lightyears better than the awful SuLong). The MeiYing is faster but kinda unstable. YueXiao is very stable and still pretty fast, making a very balanced puzzle.

Alright, thanks. Thunderclap it is, then.

I want to buy my first cuboid. What's most important to me is smooth turning. I have a 3x3 Meffert's Fisher cube that catches a lot, sometimes causing me to drop the cube entirely. It's not a cuboid, it's simply a shape mod, but I'm using it as an example of what I don't like in terms of turning.

What's second-most important to me is durability/stability. I've heard that cuboids with even dimensions (x4 for example) don't tend to last as long as those with only odd dimensions (x5 e.g.). I don't know how true that is however.

As far as the dimensions of the cuboid, I don't really have a preference, aside from a cuboid that is a good "beginner's" cuboid. I realize this may be very subjective. I would just like some advice from those of you with actual experience in the matter.

What cuboid do you think I should get?

I want to buy a Low budget 4x4. I have finally decided to go with the Yj Guansu or Yuxin Zhizheng LIon. I am confused at which to buy as there are no comparisons among them in youtube. Which would be better among the two ????

YJ GuanSu hands down. I just got one and it is becoming better than my much more expensive Moyu AoSu. The Yuxin Lion is a budget cube at a budget price. The YJ GuanSu is a top notch cube at a budget price.

Searching for a new cube

I have been using the AoLong v2 for 1 year. I am a little bored with it so I am looking for buying a new 3x3. I have to say that I am a sub-20 solver and I have aggressive and tough turning. I was thinking buying QiYi Thunderclap, GuoGuan YueXiao, congs design meiying, MoYu Tanglong or MoYu Huanlong

What do you suggest?

Edit: I can't stand very fast cubes

I've only tried the thunderclap, tanglong and hualong but at your speed, the cube with the best cornercutting and speed for your turning style is probably the tanglong or thunderclap. If your can afford more, get the tanglong. If you are on a budget, get the thunderclap but be warned because it is very hard to tension(due to the centercaps). But, from a cube not in the list, I would recommend a YuXin. It's easier to tension and it's at moderate speed. Amazing cornercutting as well.

I would reduce your list to Thunderclap, Tanglong or Yuexiao.
- Thunderclap is you want cheap but good quality and you really like your Aolong v2 because it's very similar in feeling (so, if you're bored of it maybe not the right choice).
- Tanglong if you want a smooth, stable & slowish cube
- Yuexiao if you want amazing corner cutting, light & airy cubes and can make do with a bit less stable & faster cube than the Tanglong (but still much more stable than the Meiying).

The Hualong could be a good alternative but, right now I think the Tanglong is better on the slower side and the Yuexiao on the faster side.

Im looking for a cube thats not noisy to use on airplanes. turing should be nice but does not have to be that good. Like would be happy with a zhanchi. But I would like it so I can turn fast as if trying to get a PB.

There are no cubes that, when turned fast, will not make a good amount of noise. Tanglong is one of the most silent cubes out there right now, and it's also a top notch cube but, I tell you, if turned at PB speed it will make noise (but less than most other cubes). In those situations I just do slow solving practise to improve lookahead.

Gans 356 and Yuexiao are also fine. Some people say Yuexiao is loud but if you put a bit more lube in it and loosen the tension a bit I don't think it's louder than Gans 356. These 2 makes low frequency noise that blends well with the background noise on the airplane so they might sound quieter than normally would. Cubes like Hualong and Aolong makes high frequency noise that are more audible on airplane. By the way why do you care about being quiet when there's already so much noise on the airplane?

I also want to find a 4x4 that suits me. I am struggling with a VCube 4. For the same preferences as in 3x3, what cube should I buy?

I agree with what you say about the pitch / frequency of the noise for all those cubes. Regarding why would he want a quiet cube? Because there are people easily disturbed by anything. I was complained about my noise while solving my Tanglong on a train, which is at least as noisy as a plane. I told the guy: the train also makes noise, does that disturb you as well? An continued solving.

For 4x4 I'd say the YJ GuanSu is one of the best bang for your buck right now. But either that, or the CB G4 or Yuxin 4x4 are good choices also. Also there's the Aosu of course, which is also very good but a bit more expensive.
