Do you know of any mods besides the lube? (Thx for the suggestion though)

I guess sanding the tracks of edges and corners very slightly with very fine sandpaper would speed up the breakin process. usually, worn-down plastic and lots of breaking in makes a cube quiet.

Yeah I'm a fairly new cuber (best Ao5 is 55.105[i switched from CFOP to Roux about a week ago]) and I have about 250 solves on my stickerless Zhanchi. My problem is that it annoys everyone around me when I cube.

1. just solving will make the cube quieter and better.
2. most cubers dont give a **** what non-cubers think about us.
3. most cubers dont cube around non-cubers.

Well I don't give a *******, but it would be nice to be able to cube at school and in public without annoying the ******* out of others.

I find cubing at school pretty ****ing awkward. In public is also pretty strange. I dont like being crowded around, or called a genius, etc. I just stay cooped up in my room with my cubes most of the day.

I hate how people judge others based on their hobbies. For example, a majority of US citizens sit on their butts all day and watch football, but then they decide to judge us when we do something that actually is intuitive, takes quick thinking, lightning fast reflexes and spatial IQ. Well I'm sorry I'm not mainstream enough for you society.

Well overlubing will make it quieter but you will never be able to get no noise out of your cube if you're speedcubing. If you really want to cube, go get a maru nano cube and do it yourself. That's quiet and you can do it in class without getting noticed

What are some good stickerless 2x2, 4x4, and 5x5 that would be good for general playing with? I want to have these features as in good/decent turning, very very good anti-pop mech, very little to no lockups, and decent corner cutting. Cause I want to have them out on my desk and let anyone who comes by and play with them without having any problem with the puzzles.

I assume you also want them to be cheap, so I will not recommend an Aosu or HuaChuang :)

I just bought a Cyclone Boys 2x2 Stickerless. It's really good out of the box (I just created a thread for this in the Puzzle Review forum where I give a bit more detail).
Regarding 4x4, you have the YJ Yusu stickerless (it's the pink / candy stickerless color scheme, though). If you want a more standard color scheme you will have to get a Cyclone Boys G4 but I've heard you'll need to set it up and lube it before it's good.
On 5x5 I don't know of any cheap, good & stickerless option. Maybe CB will make their new 5x5 in stickerless version soon.

2x2: sticklerless Lingpo or CB 2x2, they are both good

4x4: stickerless Aosu is great (feels better than regular black to me) and a lot of people like the stickerless Yuxin but I haven't had a chance to try it

5x5: stickerless CB 5x5, $9 on championscubestore

Also I just looked on champion's store and saw the Fangshi Jieyun in 57mm and 54.5mm were put in inventory. Are these new FS cubes or am I just out of the loop (or both)?

Yeah I'm looking for puzzles under $15. Thanks for the options.

You are correct the G4 is really not good until you set it up, and even that's hard because the screw size isn't standard so it's hard to tension. He'd be better off with a Yuxin, because IMO the CB G4 won't be as good as it until I can find a proper spring swap mod. The stock springs make the inner layers really sandy and slow, but the outer layers turn great like the 5x5.

Funny. I thought the G4 was better than the AoSu and the YuXin right off the bat with some minor adjustment to the tensions and a bit of 50K to eliminate the dry feeling. It doesn't have that stupid catching/locking inner layer nonsense of the AoSu that takes 500 solves to get rid of and it doesn't have the outer layer catching of the YuXin that seems to get worse over time rather than better.

I've had it for a couple of days and am in love with the outer layers but my inner layers aren't that good. I took it apart and noticed some of the springs were really bad, they weren't coiled correctly and I think it's causing the inner layers to skew.

But it sucks because the hardware is smaller than other brands use, and I don't know where I could get screws and spring the same size to replace them :( but once I fix the inner layers it will probably replace my Yuxin.

My Yuxin 4x4 is really good, and also pretty cheap, I don't have an Aosu but I tried one at the last competition I was at, and it was on par with my Yuxin, the only big difference in my opinion was the price.

Should I get a mini shengshou 7x7 or the cubic aofu (I have money for both)?

The Yuhu Megaminx is fine if I just want a decent and not too expensive Megaminx?

I haven't seen many reviews the yuhu (yoohoo :P )but I'd say either Dayan or shengshou
