Lubix Fusion vs. Lubix Guhong V2

After the release of the Lubix Guhong V2, an unsettling question has been nagging me ever since: Lubix Fusion or Lubix Guhong V2.

Beginner

Sorry if I do something wrong, I'm new to the whole speedcubing thing. I just got into speedcubing, and my friend gave me a dayan lingyun v2, is this the right cube to start with? I've been thinking of buying an Fii just because I've heard it's good for beginners.
Also, sorry if this isn't related to this thread, but what lube should i use?
Thanks again

Any cube is suitable for most people. Beginners don't turn fast, so overshooting is not a problem. The only problem I can think of is cranking it. Many beginners who start off, really crack down on the cube as if it's the stiffest thing in the world, when a speedcuber can easily turn it with a finger. That is why I recommend (so does everybody else), not to use your hands so much unless necessary. Finger flicking or fingertricking is normally used for speedsolving. Although I have seen in some of Thrawst's tutorials, he uses his whole wrist/hand for " F turns", but I don't see that happening much in his normal speedsolvings either.

Other than that, the Lingyun (v2 or not) will bring you a long way from beginner to advanced to pro.
Other cubes can be said to be suitable for beginners because it is a tad slower, doesn't have so much "corner cutting abilities" so you can learn to turn accurately, cheaper, isn't especially expensive or stuff because of extra unnecessary smoothness and is not normally used for professional cubing. I mean, don't get me wrong, many people use F2 as a main, PestVic loves it very much, but I, in my personal opinion, F2 doesn't really compare with the speed, smooth, abilities to a good Dayan product.
There are still some "cubic" style fans, unlike the weird curvy Dayan design.

For lube, it varies a whole bunch:

Lubix: Expensive, maybe too fast, could be easily overlubed, smooth, fast (could be good or bad)
Diff Oil: Just like Lubix, comes in many different viscosity, controllable because it isn't "that"" fast as Lubix, still very fast, smooth like Lubix, can be bought from hobby stores, relatively cheap
Shock Oil: This is very similar to Diff Oil, except I think it is more thin?? I'm not that sure.
CRC: Easily achievable from hardware stores, normal thrift stores, or other etc...stores. widely used too, quite smooth, not too fast (can be good or bad), cheap, controllable
Jigaloo: Easily achievable from hardware stores, thrift stores, or other etc.....used by multiple people, smooth, can be fast ( can be good or bad), cheap, controllable.

Hi.
I am planning to add a new cube to my collection and just can decide yet which should I but. It s between Alpha V and guhong.

So far I have a cube4 you, F II, rubik's diy and a Zanchi. I owned a Haiyan world record by guojia and just sent it back because it was sloppy and was locking up really bad.

So should it be guhong or alpha v?

Thanks, lots of helpful info. Also, how can I tell if my cube is lubed or not, because aforementioned friend said he lubed it, but it doesn't *feel* lubed/really clicky/feels rough. I can't tell if thats just how the cube is or not. (and if there's a specific thread for questions like this, tell me, because I couldn't find one)

Guhong if you like the smoothness of an F II, AV if you think the zhanchi isn't clicky/crisp enough.

Thanks for the reply. I would probably go for the A V since in this moment I feel that the Zanchi is too fast for me. Probably the Guhong would feel the same. I usually practice on the Cube4You which resembles the Rubik's DIY and when I go to the Zanchi, the cube feels so fast that I almost cannot control it. I average about 40 so I still need to practice before going deep to the Zanchi. The F II is more manageable for me so I use it as well as the Cube4You.

However, since the A V resembles a little bit the DIY and Cube4You, should I go for that and than see how I'll handle the Zanchi?

An Alpha V also locks up a bit too, but it is still a very good cube. Controllably fast, quite smooth, has some clickness. Guhong, is very smooth like a boss. It is also controllably fast, not that fast though. It can be a very good speedcube, but because it doesn't have the anti-pop design and excludes torpedoes, it may pop a bit more. You might need to tighten it and lube it well.

I would prefer the Guhong, because it is much smoother and the feeling of it, corner cuts far well, and has some of the specific features like all Dayan Cubes. (you should know since you have a Zhanchi, they're very similar)

The Guhong is nothing near as fast as a Zhanchi, perfectly well for you. :)

Alright, so a Guhong is slower than Zanchi. That should be good.

If practicing on a slower cube like Cube4you and then going to F II or Guhong, is there a chance to get my practice messed up because the differences in the cube moving and weight?

Does it matter on which cube I practice?

I average 45, know F2L intuitve, know all PLL and the 2/3 step OLL. Still facing problems in cross-f2l transition, and yes... I know... go slow and look ahead!

Now here's another question: Does it matter on which cube I practice?

It does not matter a heck a lot on what cube you practice or use. I mean, just learn to turn accurately and I think a good cube for you is fine. Because one fo hte only problems is that newbs take too much of an advantage relying on corner cutting therefore causing newbies to have a bad habit and fail.

The turning will only increase, therefore making you faster. Only a few days to get used to. Any cube can take only a few days to get used to. No matters.

Which cube and why. Dayan guhong v2. Dayan zhanchi. Dayan lingyun v2. Shenzhen type f2. Haiyan's memory cube/alpha 5

Zhanchi. Great turn speed (can be fast or normal - depends on how you want it), great corner cutting (past 45 forward, about half a cubie reverse), doesn't pop that much (never pops if you have the torpedoes in). If you are going to get it I'd recommend the Ultimate Lubix Zhanchi version. A bit more expensive, but is modded and prelubed. Currently my main and is my favorite cube.

Mainly between Zhanchi and Guhong V2. Both cubes are similar but the Zhanchi is a tad faster, as it already is known for that. The Guhong is a bit slower, some say it is even slower than the original Guhong-but either ways, it is controllable with slight speed. On the other hand, the Guhong wins by far in smoothness like the Guhong because the Zhanchi is crispy and "loud" (can depend on the cuber, favorable or not). Both can cut corners very well, I wont say a difference unless you go too far, which bring up a topic of popping.
The Zhanchi is designed to not pop already, and with torpedoes, the Zhanchi has 2 defenses from popping, quite sturdy. The Guhong has a slim design mainly aimed for smoothness or speed (though there is much friction causing lack of speed) therefore, it doesn't have the design. The v2 has torpedoes so the Guhong will have at least 1 line of defense against popping. I'm not saying Zhanchi is more pop-resistant, just saying.

If you like clicky, crispy, very fast, very pop-resistant cube, go for the Zhanchi.
If you like quiet, very smooth, tad slower (controllable speed), standard pop-resistant cube, go for the Guhong.

Why am I excluding the Lingyun? Well, it isn't as fast as the Zhanchi and it isn't as smooth as a Guhong either way. It can be very pop-resistant though.
F2? Well, it cant corner cut a lot if reasonable. It can be quite fast and slightly smooth, but I think that Dayan Products win over it.
As for the AV or Memory, they are also great choices, very sturdy, doesn't pop a lot, fast, and reasonably smooth. It just lacks in some cornercutting. Especially reverse cuts causing lock-ups to occur.

I'm still working out what to get for lubricant, and I also want a 2x2, Pyraminx, Square One, and one other puzzle that I'm undecided on. Does this seem like a good idea for one "shopping spree"? The 2x2 would be a Silicube Wittwo. If I'm correct, this should be about the same as the Lubix Wittwo, except I might need to do some tensioning. I also think I should get the Silicube Mini Package (3cc's of 30k and 3cc's of 60k) because I'm not exactly sure which one I'd like more. For Pyraminx, I'm thinking of getting the QJ Pyraminx, and for Square 1 I want the mf8 version 2.
Other Notes: For the Square 1, what's the optimal color scheme?
For the undecided puzzle, I'd like it to be easy enough so that I can at least do a part of the solve by myself, and then have to turn to a tutorial for an algorithm if needed.

For your 'undecided' puzzle, why not get a Megaminx? You only need a few extra algs to solve the last layer.

What 3x3x3 cube can be good for a Beginner other than the Rubiks brand?

Yo.

My friend wants to start his entire rubiks cube career, but he wants something other than a Rubik's brand.
Would something like a Ghosthand or a Type-A work? What's the best DIY or Screw/spring brand out there for beginners out there on Icubemart or Cubedepot?

It's the cuber not the cube.
In other words, get any cube you want. Dayan cubes are pretty good. If you find them too fast, overlube or tighten the tensions.
And since when were Rubik's brands good for anybody?

/not trying to be mean or anything, of course
