Loose. Even on the tightest useable tensions. I got it assembled, have since taken it apart to investigate, and no obvious issues.

I guess it could have been badly threaded by a production line worker somewhere in China - I'd just always assumed that was the way the SR was: fast and smooth, but poppy!

Maybe it would be worth a spring swap. Any ideas what hardware would fit a SR version 1 (56mm)?

I think Kattenvrienden had the same problem. I suggested a spring swap with a Zhanchi/Guhong/Dayan cube. Apparently it turned out okay. It might be a little stiff though.

Mine can definitely go tight to the point where it's unpoppable yet quite usable, I just have it a bit looser so it can pop sometimes.
Try taking out all the lube on the pieces for another thing, I find it doesn't like lube very much. You could also order a new core set.

There's no lube on the pieces, core only.

Was considering ordering a new core, but possibly not a fangshi one. What makes the SR stiff with Dayan hardware?

Wondering if I should order a Gans III or a Shengshou Aurora as my next 3x3. Which would you guys recommend? Your opinions.

Hmm... Would SR springs be compatible with a Dayan core? I guess not if they're longer.

Did I mention that I've done that? :D
It worked decently well. Made the Zhanchi feel a bit unstable, but it was nice and fast. I didn't much care about corner cutting which was good, it could only do line-to-line. Not bad at all though, I mained that for a month or so before switching springs back.

What's the quietest cube that's out there?
It doesn't have to be very fast, but not a bad cube.
Don't say Rubiks storebought, mine makes more sound then my Shengshou (standard) and Zhanchi.

I want to use it when watching tv or listing to the radio without annoying the rest of the family.

I'm not sure if it's the quietest cube; but the Sulong is quite quiet. I have an unboxing on my YT channel.

55mm zhanchi. I'm serious. That thing is quieter than my wind. I love normal Zhanchis but they're so loud. I was amazed just how quiet this was.

I am looking for a new 3x3. I average about 30 sec and am currently using a Guhong v2. I like the feel of it but it is a little slow. I want something that is still smooth but is a little faster and turns lighter. Thanks!

Need new hardware, where can I find this?

Been a few years since I have been cubing, and I lost my old Hiayan Memory long ago. The store I bought mine from doesn't sell them anymore. Anybody know a place that sells them, or a cube that i should get instead?

Thanks for the advise kclejeune and ThomasJE I'll take a look at both of them.
It sounds a bit strange that de 55mm zhanchi is so much quieter, but I'll see.

Hey guys, after a long break i have decided to come back to cubing. my current average is just under 30 seconds, and i need a new cube to my trusty ZhanChi. While the ZhanChi is good, i have lost 2 centre pieces, which make it a pain to solve( but i have gotten use to it), and i just want a crispier, lighter cube. Also one quite resistance to pops. I'm thinking the lingyun V2 but i'm just not sure. any1 help?

FangShi shuangren is crispier and lighter, also does not pop. Other options you might want to look at is the Gans III puzzle and MoYu WeiLong. Watch some youtube reviews before you make up your mind.

Honestly, the quietest cube I have right now and have used to date is my MoYu Weilong. It's also arguably the fastest cube out there right now. However, in order to make it quiet you will want to lube it, heavily use it (to "break it in") and wear down the plastic a little. Then slightly overlube it and it should get extremely quiet, yet still extremely usable and fast. This is the state mine is at now. It's actually too fast for me, not my main, but a backup.

Exactly my case. I broke mine in with CRC.
EDIT: but it is my main :-P

ACK NO RJ PLEASE NO.
Any cube will be relatively quiet if you break it in a lot and overlube it. The Weilong is not a particularly quiet cube. It is a fantastic cube. It is not quiet.

I might suggest the ShengShou Aurora, or an older option, the Dayan Lunhui is also nice.
