I haven't been in the market for a new cube for a while now, and I have no idea what to get with all these names floating around. Could someone give, or link me to, the lowdown on the differences between these cubes? I've heard about the Zanchi, but I don't know anything about it. I currently have a old Haiyan Memory.

The Zhanchi is way better then that outdated Alpha cube. The zhanchi never pops good corner cutting and good speed.

Thank you both! Looking at these recent cubes I am amazed especially by the corner cutting shown on video. 45 degrees looks like nothing while my current cube can barely do 30. I picked up a Zhanchi and a Weilong, along with some Lubix, which should arrive sometime next week.

IMO it doesn't need lube. It's actually much better without lube (on the pieces, haven't tried it without lube in the core yet).

I overlube with wt. 3, never lube again, as the lube wears out and the cube gets faster, I can get used to it.

I thought that the camcuber cubes were just lubed a special way. He said in his video that he didn't do the edge point mod or anything for that matter. Just lube.

He does a very small CPM (right?) and lubes it with unicorn blood.

I think you should get a new cube (Unless you already have a good cube like a guhong)

So I'm in the market for a nice cube, just something smooth that won't lock up, I'm using a Rubik's brand and have been for ~5 years. Are these the kind of cube I'm looking for? I also don't mind assembling it myself.
I'm in the UK and really don't know any decent online stores to get puzzles like this.

A Center piece modded (CPM) Zhanchi is very fast, smooth and barely locks up. It needs a little work (very little) but you might love it).
The MoYu WeiLong is extremely fast, cuts anything and does not lock up at all. It is not exactly smooth but the other qualities make up for that.
The Maru CX-3 is said to be great and it is coming out very soon.

I personally buy from fasttech.com if I can, because they sell almost everything and at the cheapest price with shipping included in the price.
From the 2 I prefer the WeiLong. I have a Guhong V2, FangShi Shuangren V1, Dayan Zhanchi and MoYu WeiLong. My favourite is the MoYu WeiLong.

The pro of the WeiLong compared to the Zhanchi is, that the WeiLong does not need lubricating for it to be great (though it is still recommended).
