Sometime in the near future, I'll probably buy some puzzles. Thinking of getting at least a 2x2 wittwo. If I had to choose between a megaminx and a 4x4, which one is more fun in your opinion?

Megaminx is like doing F2L multiple times then LL with extra pieces and cases. 4x4 is building centers, edges, and a 3x3 solve. Hope this helps :)

Yeah, I kind of knew that. Just trying to consider the "fun" aspect. But maybe that is a bad question because it all comes down to personal preference? I think the megaminx is more like the 3x3 in some ways but looks more different and I don't have any puzzle that looks like a megaminx and it looks kind of cool. But maybe 4x4 is more different than the 3x3. I also wonder for 4x4 whether everyone does centers first then edges and 3x3 solve or if there are any other methods. Megaminx looks like there's not much you can do besides solve it with the F2L style... not like you have Roux method for megaminx or Petrus or other? So I guess I still would like to know some other cubers' personal preference between the two.

Cool. I'll definitely read it in more depth if I get a 4x4. As for the earlier post regarding 5x5, I already have one though it's a very bad Rubik's brand that is impossible to turn. It's so bad I don't want to play with it. But right now I'm not planning to get into big cubes because they take too much time to learn/practice/solve and I think it's better to step up one size at a time.

I'll probably go for the 4x4 instead of the megaminx...

Get either a ZhanChi, LingYun V2, or GuHong V2. It all comes down to personal preference though.

I just got my ZhanChi today and I absolutely love it, I don't see myself having to buy another cube for a while. It's smooth and fast. 2 things my Shenen F3 were not

I haven't been in on the cubing community for six months easily... I'm looking for a good quality 3x3 cube and I don't know what particular brand or type I should be buying.
Any suggestions are open.
If it's of any help: when I was into cubing I mainly used an A5, and I liked it a lot. The only problems I encountered were minor locks.
And I'm not big into self assembling my cubes. If there's a place that sells pre-assembled cubes, link it to me please, that would be fantastic.

Thanks all,

Guhong, Guhong v2, and Zhanchi are all good cubes.
But if you want something that is crunchy (rather than smooth like the above 3) try the Witlong.

This store has the best prices (and good shipping) for cubes for US residents - can't say for sure in international cases though.

Yeah but he said that he didn't like the minor locks from his AV. So really he should go with the Guhong, Guhong II, or the Zhanchi. I would recommend the GuHong II or Zhanchi. But up to him.

so i'm doing a school art project that requires me to buy about 100-200 3x3 cubes (a cube mosaic), and i was wondering if there was a place online to buy cubes in bulk at a cheap price? I'm looking for ~$1 a cube, so dianshengs would be a bit much...help would be appreciated, thanks :)

edit: tiled cubes would be a lot better, i dont really care how bad quality the cubes themselves are :D

talk to e3cubes about a bulk order of dozen sets of mini dianshengs

People think the witlong has bad lockups, but I found a great tension on mine, where it is fast, but rarely locks up. With just some time spent on finding the right tensions, the witlong can become a great crunchy cube.

I ordered two and a halve week ago a few cubes from dx.com (DealExtreme). I received the shipment today. Btw, I live in Holland and dx is in China. Cubes (Dayan) are really cheap and shipping is free. I don't know how they do it, but I am glad they do..

And from now on my new stickerless ZhanChi is my most favorite cube! ;)

I got my sticker less ZhanChi a couple days ago and haven't touched another cube since

I can't find any speedcube that suit me yet. I had a zhanchi but i don't like it because of the clickyness (I really hate it) And it slow down after a month of using. I used to have a guhong too and i don;t know why but my cube is hard and crappy feel (I use a POM version) . I want a cube that is buttery smooth feeling and ok speed, Decent corner cut. I'm thinking about trying and F II and guhong V II.

The reason your Gu Hong has a "hard" feel is because you have the POM version, which is much harder plastic.

You can get $3 a cube from HKnowstore, but you have to tell the owner you're a friend of the right people, which I won't name here, to avoid a bunch of people messaging Calvin about cheap cubes.

Kirjava has a Roux method for megaminx tutorial somewhere.

Anyway for lube crc is fine but a lot of people use silicone oil like lubix, izolube (puzzle addictions.com), lubicle (thecubicle.us), or a cheaper traxxas (speedcubeshop.com). the oil gives a different feel than crc.

On a different note Is the Dayan mf8 mini better or the regular. And I already have a ssv3

The Dayan full size is awesome. Don't get the mini. Get the biggy. They are creating a v2 though.

If you like smooth cubes, you need to get one of the OLD OLD Gu Hongs, or the old old Zhan Chi. When I say old, I mean from when they first came out. Dayans are made from a softer plastic at first for about a month or so, then they change the plastic and they get crappy.
