Once the v-cube is modded, most people think it's better than the Shengshou. However, it does take a LOT of modding and breaking in. If you're a beginner and just want a 6x6 to do a few casual solves on, go with the Shengshou.

I've heard the One Hand Zhanchi is quite good for one handed solves. Or, if you don't want to pay the extra money for all the mods done to it, you can just buy a normal zhanchi or a normal lingyun (I recommend those two instead of a guhong because they're slightly smaller than normal cubes and generally better for OH solves, but a guhong might work as well if you have bigger hands).

Well im not a beginner speedsolver, but only with 6x6. So of i get a v cube and modify it would it be better. Or should i get a shengshou first?

The modded v-cube is better, so it all depends if you think you're really going to get into 6x6. If you plan on getting serious with 6x6 speedsolving, I'd recommend the v-cube, since you'll probably end up buying it sometime anyway. If not, go for the Shengshou.

Ok thankyou. I might get the v cube, just because i wwould have probably have got it later on in my life..lol. Hopefully i can mod it without breaking it.

This isn't really a "Which cube should I buy" question, but rather "What can I expect".

So, what can I expect? I ordered a YJ Finhop and an Alpha V-f. I know there are probably better cubes, but I have good cubes already. What other cubes do they feel like? What are the pros and cons of each cube?

Could someone find a good mini alpha for OH from taobao for less than 40 yuan? My chinese fails and my head is starting to hurt because it takes forever to read. I just spent a couple hours trying to find 5 cubes and this is the only one left.

Bump? Or just tell me if the mini alpha or the micro memory is better for OH cubing. Should I get a cube that's 5.2 cm or 4.7 cm for OH?

I own a micro memory, and it is definitely small. The corner cutting isn't that great either. I feel like the micro memory is too small. Try the mini, because the micro memory just doesn't really seem like a good OH cube to me. I have small hands, and I can still do better on a normal sized cube.
You can maybe also try a ling-yun, because it is slightly smaller than the average cube

Also, if you still go with the micro memory, it only costs like $5 on icubemart, and it would ship to Michigan faster than a chinese store.

Thanks. I will probably get a mini alpha after I figure out what the mechanism looks like. It's so much cheaper from a chinese store. I can get any one of the 2 cubes for less than $3 US including shipping.

Next question: Should I bother getting a colored dayan cube to practice on so I don't have stickers chipping off every couple months? If so, which dayan? (not guhong/zhanchi/taiyan) I'm still going to be using a black zhanchi or guhong for official solves.

I personally have a Lingyun V2 and it is amazing. It turns with no resistance and feels accurate.

What 4x4 should I get?

I have a Rubiks brand right now, and decided its time for a new one. I have an eastsheen super 4x4 cube, and think that one is pretty nice.

I am deciding if I should get a lanlan, or an eastsheen. I want your guys opinion on which one I should get or if there is another one I should get.

I don't really want one that doesn't have to be lubed to turn well. It doesn't have to be a speedcube either just one to use for fun.

Hi,

http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/s...ld-I-get-quot-The-Cube-Choice-Question-Thread

Please use this thread. Look a couple pages before the end and there's a good explanation to your question. :)
In case you're too lazy, I'll just quote it right here (I think this was the post you were referring to):

To elaborate on the above post:

-Shengshou v3 is the best route if you are looking to get a good, cheap 4x4. The small size is nice because it makes the cube easier to hold/turn. However, it is slightly locky and doesn't cut corners that well (half a piece). That being said however, it still turns very fast and never pops. Plus, it is amazing out of the box, you don't have to do anything to it to make it good. It is my main 4x4 (over the Dayan AND X-Cube).

-The Dayan+mf8 4x4 is the best route to take if you do not pop cubes very often (you aren't a rough turner). It turns well, doesn't lock up, and cuts corners better than the SS v3, however, like I said, it pops quite a bit and requires a fair amount of breaking in/tensioning out of the box. A word of warning though, do NOT get the mini version. The full size version is larger than most 4x4s, but in the long run is quite a bit better than the mini.

-The X-Cube 4, in my opinion, isn't worth how much money it costs. They run anywhere from $40-$50, and require inner-layer modding/quite a bit of breaking in to make them great. Once that is accomplished, however, it is an amazing 4x4. It cuts corners better than the Dayan/SS and doesn't pop. In addition, it doesn't lock up. Overall, if you are willing to spend the money/time to break it in and mod it, you will be happy. If not, then this cube isn't for you.

TL;DR - Get the SS v3. Cheapest and the best out of the box.

If you want a cheap one, get a ShengSHou V3

I have heard many great things about the Shenshou 4x4 v3, but for someone who has the v2, is the v3 better enough than the v2 that it would justify buying the v3? Is the v3 a big improvement of the v2?

Are there any good Floppy cubes?? The one I have broke after ~10 solves(the tile with the screw broke off), so I put a big screw through the tile and into the core. I just picked it up again and the same happened to the other side.
